RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center Predatory practices to rob the disabled and poor Hamilton New Jersey

 I purchased a one year membership with RWJ Health center in June of 2012. I paid for one year up front with cash. At the time the sales person told me they needed my credit card or bank account information but only for security. I stated to the rep that under no circumstances should my card be billed with out my authorization. I explained that I was paying in cash because I have had to many instances in the past where monies being withdrawn cause overdrafts. I was assured that no charges would be applied to my card.

I never really felt comfortable there, The staff seemed upity and acted like they were better than everybody else, they kept telling me if I did not come to their facility at least once per month, my membership would end. I became sick in November of 2012 and was unable to make it there for thirty days, I assumed my membership was ended.That is until I found a withdraw from my bank account to start a new membership six months later.

They did not send me any correspondence, email or make a phone call. I did not authorize this transaction. Now I am being told that I must give the facility thirty days notice that i wish to quit. They will not refund my money. They say I signed a contract. That maybe true but the represenitive that assisted me initially was told that I was paying for one year and one year only.  I was assured that no charges would be applied to my card.

The day after realizing that i was being charged for a service I did not want, I went to the facility and met with a short prudish woman named Kristina Carocci. As is the nature of the majority of employees at the facility, she was very arrogant and refused any assistance other than not charging me again in the future. I explained to her that I am disabled and on a fixed income, her only reply was you signed a contract and sorry I will not refund your money.

I urge anyone in Hamilton to stay away from this place. They have criminal policies. They are thieves. They will rip you off.
