This is one of the older scams around. Not a whole lot you can do about it, though. You bought a sound system from the back of a truck. It's a cheesy system that is not worth what you paid for it. Technically, getting a bad deal is not against the law, so there's little that can be done. At best, the only crime committed was selling without a business license. You won't get much interest from the cops on that one.
This scam capitalizes on the victim's greed. You are supposed to think you're getting a smokin' deal on stolen goods, even though the "official" story is that they are leftover from a job. Honestly, what kind of business dumps high end audio and video equipment for a fraction of it's value, instead of taking it back to the business and reselling it.
