I bought a truck from these people in 2012 they told me it had a new motor in it several months later along with a lot of services found out there was not a new engine in it but a used junk yard motor that was bad it sucked antifreeze called manager adrian bueno and he told me to bring the truck back to him and he would cancelled the registration and title and sell the truck at the auction so he could get his money back with the knowledge that we were sqaure i already had 5000.00 into the truck i did not ask for a refund did not hear anything from him for 2 years then out of no where got a letter of collections in the mail saying they were sueing me for double the money of the truck. i asked for the documents that showed the amount they sold the truck for and it did not match what he told me, he straight faced lied to me and my husband. i also found out later that this truck was involved in two major collisions front end and rear end which was i was not told about.

Voluntary Repossession information

What you did is called a "voluntary repossession". Research online the ramifications of a repossession
When you have a repossession, voluntary or involuntary, you owe the balance of the loan due after the vehicle is sold at auction + whatever fees and penalties you have accrued.
The loan doesn't dissappear when you turn in the vehicle. The vehicle is collateral for the loan, but the balance is still due.
Any issues with the collateral such as the engine and other items don't diminish the loan amount you owe. However, if the auto dealership misrepresented the vehicle then you could take the dealership to court. You would need proof of the misrepresentation (evidence) in order to win a claim. Even then, the amount of the claim may or may not wipe out the amount due. If you could prove fraud then it's possible the deal could be unwound.
In the meantime do your homework so you can fix this situation.
Next time you purchase a vehicle, do your homework before you sign your name.
