I bought a 1999 Pontiac Grand-Am in 2001. It seemed like a good deal because it only had 20,000 miles on the car. Three days after buying the car I had to bring it back because it would shake very badly when breaking to slow down or stop. They said it was the rotors and they would fix the problem. They didn't.

Over the next year-and-a-half I brought the car back for the same problem over and over, at least 7 to 8 times. During this same time period I also complained that the car would blow it's horn on it's own, the radio would turn off and on by itself, doors would lock on it's own as well as the headlights would flash, even if I wasn't in the car. They refused to work on it.

I ended up having to take it to another dealership to be worked on and I was told that ALL the seals in the motor had to be replaced and that the breaking system would have to be overhauled. The dealership that helped me was Massey GMC in Kinston. They were wonderful!

After all the problems I had, Massey suggested that I return the car back to Sale Auto Mall as some of the problems had to do with the computer system and that the car had been in a wreck that damaged more than 25% of the car. Basically, it was a lemon and there are lemon-laws in this state.

I tried to return it, they would not take it back or pay to have the car brought back to Pontiac so that they could look at the car and determine what needed to be done. I called the Better business Bureau, the State's Attorney's office and filed complaints. I also notified General Motors (Pontiac) of the problems with the car and Sale Auto Mall.

Needless to say I no longer own this car, I had it repossed in order to get out of a payment for something I could not drive at all, as it was deemed a safety hazzard. How's that for being screwed.
