Salvation Army running slave labor, violating 4th amendment rights, violating privacy rights, illegal searches, illegal drug testing laconia New Hampshire

I arrived at the Salvation Army Carey house on Monday, July 24, 2017 from bridge house shelter in plymouth as they were out of room. my bags were all searched and later i was made to take a drug test, even though I was not there for addiction issues, as I told them. if i refused the test, i would have been kicked out.

We have to be buzzed through 2 locked doors to get in, we have a curfew of 10 pm every night. although I have never been in jail, this feels pretty close. we have only 1 place we are allowed to smoke on the property. We are forec to leave every day from 9-1, even if we are on property trying to find a job so we can leave there.

All of us without full time jobs are mandated to work in their thrift stores for no money. i myself have to do 20 hours a week as well as paying rent of $10 a day. We get no food from them, not even coffee. Lights have to be out most nights by 10.

they use residents as staff and they are giving people drug tests without being qualified to do so. a girl was kicked out for testing positive for weed, and the next day she was on the street, with nobody she knew and no place to go. not all of us are there for rehab, I just needed a place to stay temporarily until I could find a job or another place to stay.

there is black mold in the girls wing bathroom, which seemingly is not being taken care of. this is a health risk to all there. there are small children there which would be affected more by this. I have done some research on them, and their goal is not to help poor people or people with addiction problems, but to extort money from us and use us as free labor.

i am hopefull to be maybe leaving soon, but I can not leave all those people there who have noplace else to go in the hands of those people. I should say that I have had no problem with the staff or residents there, and my comments are not directed toward them at all. most staff are also residents which does not seem right to me.
