Saugerties Furniture Mart Rude, arrogant, nasty, violent -- yes, violent behavior to us for no reason at all! Full of deception and lies about prices and availability of products. Even refused to write up a quote. Saugerties, New York

Beware, do not shop at Saugerties Furniture Mart.

After working back and forth with Saugerties Furniture Mart for several weeks, we finally decided we wanted to order eight pieces of expensive and good quality furniture.  I noticed, however that I was having a hard time getting a quote out of Russel, the older owner.  He seemed to be resisting any kind of organization and I sensed deception on his part.

I kept expecting Russel to write something up for me so I could tell how much each piece was and what the tax was going to be, a total.  When I asked for a quote, Russel snapped, "Well, are your ready to purchase???" and I responded, "No, of course not, I need to ok this all with my husband!"  Russel went into his office and came back with a small adding machine paper tape with the total.  I wasn't able to tell what pieces cost from this little flimsy piece of paper, so I went home and built my own quote on my computer with cloned images off the Gat Creek website so I could tell what I was buying and for how much.  I wanted to be able to eliminate something if it wouldn't be within our budget.  There was no way to do that from an adding machine tape.

I also did a little research on the internet and discovered that there were other places that were selling the same furniture for several hundred dollars less than Saugerties was. When we walked in Saturday to put down a deposit on the furniture, I asked Russel about the price difference and could he give us a percent off, since we were buying 8 pieces from him, that I was curious if he could do something for us that way.    

That's when he turned violent and nasty.  He grabbed my papers with with the pictures and prices and took it into his office and threw them on his desk out of reach.  He started yelling and screaming at me, "Go ahead, go elsewhere to buy, I don't need to sell to you!!!!!  Where's your husband!!!"  I said he was on the phone with his sister, who just happened to call just then.  "Well, I can see how important I am to him!!!!," he screamed.  When he walked out of his office to confront my husband, I walked into his office to gather my papers.  I wasn't going to leave them there!!!

Then he used information about me I'd casually given the week before to try and humiliate me.  He was exceedingly violent and nasty to me.  I turned to my husband and said, "We are so out of here, now!" and left.  It was such a horrible experience, I burst into tears outside on the street.  

I called the company and complained about their dealer in Saugerties and asked if there was another dealer nearby.  Turns out there is another dealer with exactly everything we were looking for not half an hour away across the river!  We saved more than a thousand dollars by dealing with them instead of Saugerties.  Beware, do not shop at Saugerties Furniture Mart.
