Per the adoption agreement, I agreed to have my puppy spayed when I adopted her from Sav A Lab at 12 weeks old.  When she was approximately 6 months old I spoke to my vet to make arrangements for Annie to be spayed. My vet explained to me that current research and information suggests that leaving large dogs intact until one year of age is important to their bone health and reducing their risks of other diseases. After discussion she convinced me that it was in Annie's best interest to wait for the surgery. She printed multiple pages of documentation of several studies as proof.  Additionally, she wrote a letter to Sav A Lab explaining why it was important to Annie's health to wait for the surgery. Dr. Anderson has cared for my pets and known me well for over 20 years.  On August 31, 2018 Annie had her surgery and I provided Sav A Lab with proof that she had been spayed. I requested my $200.00 deposit for spaying and was told I would not be getting it back.  The reason was that she was not spayed before 6 months.  If I'm not mistaken, does Sav A Lab not want what is best for the dog? Please help. I did fulfill my obligation. Annie has been spayed. I feel I did the best thing for her.

Another concern I have is about the kind of dog Annie is.  I love her with all my heart and would never part with her.  When I got her she was a cute puppy.  As she grew, however, she clearly did not look at all like a lab, (I've had 2 labs before).  In January 2018 I had her DNA analyzed to find out what other breeds in addition lab she was.  To my surprise she has no lab in her at all!  She is shepard, boxer, coon hound and poodle.  I don't understand how she could have been misrepresented to me as they insist she was born with the other puppies on August 11, 2017 in Rhode Island.   My biggest concern here is that other adopters might not want her if there is no lab in her.  Instead of being accepted and loved, she could have ended up on the street again.
