my telephone bills never was more than 20 to 50 dollars for as long as i've lived in chicago. then started calling regular direct calls to my girlfriend in las vegas. She did make one collect call to me which i accepted, but when my october bill came i had 3 or 4 more collect calls costing over $300!!! and a total bill of$623.
SBC let some oddball third party companies bill me for the extra calls and would not help me correct my bill. also MCI charged me $168 for the one collect call i accepted. the next month in november my bill was $240 with a new third party company billing me for calls to Deigo Garcia?!!! no help from SBC again.
i'm sure my december bill will have more fraudulent charges on it too. SBC is carrying the water for these companies and if you don't pay they will ruin your credit. SBC tells you to call these companies to correct the bill but the companies refuse to investigate the charges.

SBC finally tries to help telephone company bad billing

i got to speak with a good worker at SBC about my billing errors and he blocked all collect calls to my phone with 3rd party phone companies. he also blocked all 3rd party companies billing for any long distance. a person i talked to before said you could only block select companies which is wrong. you can block all 3rd party long distance companies including your company.
this good worker also recoursed my bill for the incorrect collect calls and that company will have to bill me independtly and i got those calls credited back to my account. if you have problems with your bill ask them to recourse the charges and have the 3rd party company bill you separatly so they can't turn your phone off and/or ruin your credit.
this worker was very good and call them until you get the recourse of the wrong charge. and deal with the 3rd party later. he also told me after the charges are recoursed the 3rd party companies give up on trying to cheat you and you have them blocked out in the future.
