SBC's Win Back Department offered me special rates over the phone on local and long distance if I would return to them. I agreed to switch. I received my bill and some of the rates were only temporary and some were double what I was promised.
I spoke with a very rude supervisor who said that they no longer had a recording of the conversation, implied that I was lying, and tried to make a deal. I do not want a deal, I wanted what I was promised. I will NEVER do business with SBC again based on principle. I'd advise NOT doing business with SBC, but if you decide to do business with them, please protect yourself and get everything in writing beforehand or record the conversation yourself. I have filed a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission Texas.

Talk About A F*ing Rip II ...I really believe they do it intentionally just to see how many people are gonna call them on a $5 overcharge

Got the $50 "gift card" in the mail about 2 weeks later. What it really is, is a visa card with a $50 credit on it. Pretty smart. Giving you a credit card you didn't even ask for. Ran the $50 through the store and cut up the card. As for the $80 credit, I called to see why it hadn't been issued to my bill. They come on and say it's FIVE months now. Had my granddaughter living with us the last 7 months. She ran up a $300 phone bill at her mother's house. 6 months ago, I call sbc and have them put on a block for $5 per month to keep that from happening here. Two month ago there's a $2.95 long distance bill. I call them up and ask why. No LD allowed with the block. They say it's because I designated sbc as my LD carrier. There's no way in hell I called. I ask them how in the hell can I designate them as my LD carrier when I'm paying them $5 to block any and all LD calls whatsoever. No friggin answer. They take the $2.95 off. Last month my granddaughter leaves. Call sbc tell them to remove the block, ($5 less) and make them the carrier. What do I get on this month's bill? $5 block And $2.95 carrier fee. I swear to God. I really believe they do it intentionally just to see how many people are gonna call them on a $5 overcharge. PEOPLE, all I can say is now that sbc has swallowed up many more millions of customers and is now AT&T, watch your bills like a hawk. There's no way I made the changes to my billing, they did it.

Talk About A Fuc*ing Rip

Signed up for that Win Back deal. Was promised $106 plus taxes and fees including $25.99 for DSL. The first month my bill was $100 PLUS taxes and fees WITHOUT the DSL($25.99). They gave me some tap dance about "the first month's bill is higher.... yada yada yada". The next month's bill was $161. Interesting how they had tagged on a $5.95 per month SBC long distance carrier charge. It actually said THAT was a 1 year contract at $5.95. The second time I called them to b***h, they removed it AGAIN and said it wouldn't be on there anymore. The Win Back came with several rebates. Filled out the first one 51 days ago, haven't heard d**k about it. Called today and they said you had to have the service for 2 months. Another rebate form came in the mail on the 14th of Oct. for a $50 gift card. The Fuc*ing rebate form EXPIRED on the 30th of SEPT. I called 'em up and had a conversation with them. They're SUPPOSE to mail me that one within 2 weeks. On the third bill, they're SUPPOSE to give an $80 credit. Was driving home last night and listening to talk radio and they were discussing the banks and all their new fees. How the new corporate mentality is to rip off the customer and maybe TWENTY PERCENT will call in and b***h and they will refund what it is they're bitching about. This is what we have here. A clear case of overcharging. If I didn't call to complain, they'd be jacking me for who knows how much money.

And If You DO Use SBC, MONITOR YOUR BILLS!

You can read another report I posted regarding SBC in the Kansas area. I got that mess straightened out, but this month, on BOTH bills, I had been charged $2.00 plus tax for long distance service. One phone (for alarm system only) had never had long distance. I cancelled the long distance service on my residence phone a couple of months ago. NOW I get two bills with charges for long distance service again. I honestly don't know what one has to do to get them to stop trying to bill me for things I have specifically not asked for and do not use. Both of my telephone bills should be for the same amounts every month. Since they are in my bill payment system for those amounts, that's how I catch it. I wonder how many people get stuck with these charges and don't catch them for several months.
