I purched a motorhome from them in september of 2001 and I paid them $37.000.00 they told me it had a 45 day warrenty. I drove the motorhome 30 miles and noticed it had an exhuste leak. I called them to let them know and they said when you get back from vaction to bring it in and they would fix it.when I returned home I brought it in for them to repair. after two weeks I called to check and see how they were coming on it. they told me it was going to cost around $1200.00 to fix. I then reminded them about the 45 day warrenty and they said they do not fix drivetrains on motorhomes so they would have to send it to another shop and I would have to pay for it. Two weeks later I had a heart defect that reguired surgery .I then called schaaps traveland to see if they would buy it back for $34.000.00 and they told me it was only worth $17.000.00 book value so they could not buy it back. DO NOT GET RIP OFF LIKE I DID

Half truths and outright lies

When Dave came to pick up this motorhome we were made aware of the fact that he was going to tow a trailer behind it that far exceeded the tow rating of this motorhome. We warned him that this was the case and have on file a written statement that he and one of our representatives signed stating "Customer is advised by Schaap's Traveland that the trailer he plans on pulling behind the 1993 Vacationer he is purchasing from us exceeds suggested tow rating for the motorhome. Customer is liable for damage to trailer or said motorhome if he pulls his trailer behind this unit. Schaap's Traveland will not be liable for anything pulled behind or the motorhome itself after customer takes possession of this unit: VIN #1GBKP37N6P3306608."

The 45 day warranty that Dave refers to applies to Appliances and Fresh Water Plumbing. It states "I fully understand that only the appliances and fresh water plumbing have been checked by the dealer, are in working condition and are warrantied for 45 days only. After this time dealer assumes no responsibility for any repairs and does not provide any extended warranty. No other items are part of this warranty. Therefore, I agree to pay for all costs of any repairs for this unit other than the 45 day appliance and fresh water plumbing items." This too was signed by Dave and a representative of our Company. Dave also fails to mention that he did bring the unit in for repairs that did fall under our warranty and those items were repaired at no cost to him.

We believe that we could not have been more customer friendly and honest with Dave and that this attack and accusation is unjust and vicious. We are happy to supply copies of these warranties that Dave signed to verify his signature on them.

We also have a different version regarding the conversation about buying his unit back but believe that more information at this point would serve no purpose. We believe that this customer is only interested in his version and that we have been and continue to be a business that deals honestly and fairly with all customers. We have have been in business for 47 years with customer service always as our #1 goal and we stay committed to that goal every day.
