This is the 2nd time in a row I came to Schlesinger's where my experience was very unpleasant. The last time part of my meal was burnt and all I got was a mild apology and no accommodation offered.

Today I came to lunch and the food was very good. When I went up to pay, the bill was $10.53. The brunette girl at the counter was on the phone and gave me $9.47. I tried to give her 3 cents, so I could get an even 50 cents and she just rudely brushed me away. I then got the 50 cents from a red head girl who was standing next to her, who probably should have done the transaction herself in the first place. Since I was annoyed with the brunette's attitude, I asked the red head to speak to a manager and she claimed to be the manager. I said to her that this was the 2nd time in a row that I had an issue there, mentioning the burnt food. She didn't bother apologizing for that and defended the brunette, saying that she was multitasking. I would have been fine with that explanation and left it alone, however the brunette was standing behind her giving me a stupid smirk, which she didn't see. I made reference to that to the red head manager and she abruptly told me, if you think we're acting stupid, then get out. I was like--that's very rude, what am I not welcome here? So her response was, in a more harsh tone, no you're not welcome here, get out.

That was truly disgusting behavior and I will not be going back. This is the same attitude that we recently saw just blocks away at the Starbucks in Philadelphia when the 2 black guys were treated so poorly. I am not black and therefore this is not a racial issue. And I wasn't unfairly arrested like they were. But that kind of service tells you how unprofessional and untrained employees are at this establishment.

Robert, I think you misunderstood me. I was not comparing the 2 incidents. What happened to the 2 gentlemen at Starbucks was far worse than what I encountered. That was a disgrace. This was an inconvenience. The only comparison I was making was how out of touch with any type of professional courtesy both managers were and the fact that it happened so close to each other, just blocks apart in downtown Philadelphia. Maybe I should have just left out that last part because the majority of managers in Philadelphia restaurants and bars have manners and know how to treat people respectfully.

You are really coming to a public web site and trying to equate you not being able to "even out" your change and getting a smirk with two African Americans getting unfairly arrested. No wonder they gave you the attitude they did.

I am not black and therefore this is not a racial issue
- Then why in the world would you even bring this up?
