Schwan's Food Service Worked into financial ruins Marshal Minnesota

I too was told that I could make a lot of money working for Schwans as a driver. I felt good about landing the job and was convinced I would do well financially.

Not the case, infact the income was so bad that I tried to refinance my home in order to pay bills. However, because I was strictly commission paid no bank would grant the loan.

So the struggle to stay a float continues. It is tough working all these hours with so little to show for it. Then to top it off my depot took products I had hand held pre-orders for and gave those to another employee for his customers satisfaction. Why was his customer more important than mine? I needed the sale and couldn't afford to lose a customer over this ordeal.

Evidently, all is fair with this company, and you have no choice but to go along with it. When I explained to the customer what happened I was in the wrong, because she complained to the company and of coarse the company gave me a call. How dare I tell the customer the truth.

I am in an unusual situation in that my spouse is dying and our time together is very valuable. But my sales each day are so low that I have to, according to my boss, use every chance available to build more customers. He said I must start earlier and finish later.

So if my commute is an hour from the depot to the first customer, and I start at 7:00 AM to get there by 8:00 and my last customer is to be seen at 9:00 PM and I drive back to the depot and arrive at 10:00, how many hours is that?

If I stay in a hotel that night I might finish at 9:30 and then put the truck to bed for the night haul my stuff to the room close out my day eat something and be in bed by 11:00 PM

In the mean time what about my best friend at home who is all alone and needs reason to hang in there and fight to beat the illness? What about the responsibilities we all have in our daily lives beyond the job, when do they get done?

Previous reports filed by drivers or ex-drivers who have had enough, hit every nail on the head and it goes hand in hand with what I and many others face as an employee of this company.

There is no one whom we can trust to talk to or to help us, and the facts are facts the company is greedy, could care less if we have a life or not or an income ample to paying our bills and putting food on the table.

Any job even MacDonalds pays better than Schwans and that is a fact, there are 2 drivers in our depot who have good numbers but they still don't make up for the amount of hours these people are away from their families.

Times are tough right now economically for everyone but if you are considering working for Schwans due to the lack of other jobs being available, don't, because believe me, it is not worth it.


This company not only steels from it's eployee but they steel from the customers as well and I believe that the overall structure of the company goes against any real sense for business ethics, professionalism, or even good common sense.
