Sean Hyman is a newsletter writer who specializes in subjects related to finances, trading, and investing; specifically, Forex (currencies) and Stocks. Currently Newsmax sells subscriptions to two of Sean's newsletters: Ultimate Wealth Report and Absolute Profits. He is sometimes featured on news and finance shows on the Fox news network, MSNBC (and others) as a financial expert / advisor.

Sean is a salesman, not an investor. I would venture a guess that his knowledge of finance and investing is cursory at best and juvenile at the least. He is a predator who chooses to victimize God fearing Christians with his rip off advice by claiming to have a "Biblical Money Code". I have to say that this was not the attraction for me, it was his performance claims. He claims to have traded his father's meager investment account from $40,000 to $400,000...a 900% return! What also attracted me was the $10,000 Guarantee which stated that if I didn't increase my account by $10,000 that he (meaning Newsmax) would give me $10,000...no questions asked.

I was a subscriber to Sean Hyman's Ultimate Wealth Report for two years and have experienced a (roughly) 60% drawdown in the stocks bought on his recommendation. Sean's picks and "advice" are worse than random. They were absolutely without rational thought or expertise.

Two of his picks (VALE & PBR) were embroiled in corruption scandals, causing stock sell-offs of 62% and 68% respectively. BTU, a coal energy company, has plummeted over 88% since Sean recommended it. Recently BTU has tried to mask the horrible performance of its stock by a stock split - a REVERSE stock split! BTU eventually declared bankruptcy and was delisted down to the Pinksheets (OTCBB). All but two of the picks I bought (at or below his recommended price, as he prescribed) suffered price declines of more than 50%. They've lost over half of their value while Sean recommends his subscribers to hold and buy more! The other picks are somewhere between -10% and -45%.

Here's the real kicker: Sean and Newsmax graciously offers a $10,000 guarantee as part of his welcome letter sent to new subscribers to his Ultimate Wealth Report newsletter. A $10,000 "no questions asked" money guarantee. I've tried numerous times to contact him with the intent of collecting, but Newsmax (the publisher of his letters) won't pass my requests on to him, nor will they supply me with Sean's personal contact information. I have the guarantee in black and white and PDF format for all to see. Sean, if you are reading this I intend to collect!

So, here you go, a review from someone who took Sean Hyman's financial advice for two years. I followed his recommendations; bought when he said buy, sold when he said sell, and now the account dedicated to his advice is 60% smaller than it was when I began. None of his picks are making money...nor does he provide any of the advice critical for successful investing. Like how much to risk, how much to buy, whether or not to use stop-loss orders, how to manage the risk you're taking, etc. Sean is not a financial advisor...he's a salesman.

Here are some of the declines you might suffer if you take Sean Hyman's investment advice:

ECA: -52%

BTU: -88%

PBR: -68%

VALE: -62%

TCK: -57%

MBT: -60%

…and that’s just the few I can bring myself to reveal!

Sean is a con-artist…and Newsmax is complicit by continuing to offer his crappy newsletter advice to people in subscription format. Google Sean Hyman or Ultimate Wealth Report or Absolute Profits and marvel at the comments posted by people (including myself) who have lost massive amounts of money following his advice. I would love to start gathering names, emails, phone numbers and (horror) stories from the victims of Sean and Newsmax. Right now, Newsmax is running MORE PROMOTIONS of Sean’s awful newsletters…I don’t know how they can live within their own skulls knowing how many people he has led into financial ruin.

If you have suffered financial losses as the result of Sean Hyman and Newsmax , please contribute to this thread and we’ll see what we can do to get him stopped!

Sean Hyman rebuttal

AUTHOR: Annoymous - (USA)

I have been a subscriber for about 2 years. I too bought some of the same stock. I averaged down on VALE and sold 500 of my 600 shares at an over 200% gain. I did lose on BTU, but averaged down and sold what I had for some profit.  The thing I appreciate about Sean is that he reminds us not to get emotional about the investment and to

TCK is now TECK it is starting to show higher highs, but has been on the downside.

The thing I appreciate about Sean is that he reminds us not to get emotional about the investment and to not put all the investment in at once. I have averaged down on a few of the stocks mentioned in the complaint and am waiting for it to cycle through. He does say not to buy on margin.Common sense, don't spend money you don't have to invest.

Newsmax did finally make good on the guarantee by refunding the remaining subscription fees. Now my only complaint is that it took 2 years, and that Sean Hyman is utterly incompetent.

In the original report I stated that he (meaning Newsmax and Sean Hyman) would give me $10,000...no questions asked...if my account value did not increase by $10,000. This is in error (as my lawyer has pointed out). The guarantee says (not in exact terms) that if my account value did not increase by $10,000 Sean Hyman and Newsmax would refund my subscription fees. Although they did not refund all of my subscription fees, they did refund the last year's fee.

The exact guarantee wording is:

"Your $10,000 Guarantee

I guarantee that by following my guidance in Ultimate Wealth Report, you will be able to
make an additional $10,000 on your investments.
And if you request a refund, I won't ask any questions. I don't need any proof from you
that you made only $9,000, or whatever amount it comes to, instead of $10,000.
I will just take your word for it.
I know a few people like to gimmick the system, but 99% of you will do the right thing.
(Besides, the last thing I feel like doing is sifting through somebody's financial
statements!)
And I know that even if I make you just an extra $4 a month, then you already have
recouped more than the cost of my advice."

It is accompanied by a 100% Satisfaction Gaurantee, which is worded as follows:

"100% Satisfaction Guarantee

Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to me.
So even if I give you critical, lifechanging
financial advice, yet fail to fully meet your
expectations, all you have to do is give my customer service a call and request a full
refund of the amount you paid at any time during the next 6 months!"

So the refund is implied in the $10,000 Guarantee to be what fees you have paid to Sean and Newsmax. As I stated above, they did refund the last years fees. I did not ask for the previous two years of subscription fees. My mistake.
