I have diligently paid my premiums to Account Care through my Sears Credit Card.

One of the claims Account Care makes is that they will make your Sears Credit Card payments as long as you are unemployed due to a layoff. If you are unemployed for a period 6 months Account "claims" they will payoff your debt to Sears in-full.

I was laid off from work Sept. 2005 and it is now Jan 2006. I notified Account Care of my layoff in Sept. 2005. Account Care said they would send me a claim packet to my "confirmed address".

The packet didn't come. I contacted them again in Oct. 2005. Account Care stated they had sent it and again confirmed my address.

The packet was received in Nov.2005 two months after my layoff.

Meanwhile, I have been dunned by sears financial (aka Citibank) to make "at least the minimum payment" to keep my account out of collections. I have complied with city bank because I don't want any negative credit reports.

I filled out the forms and copied the required unemployment documentation asked for in the packet and sent it to Account Care.

December, No response from Account Care but, plenty of calls from Sears / Citibank continuing to dun me for payments, which I, of course have paid fearing negative credit reports.

I called Account Care in December, they stated they had not received my paperwork. I sent it in again. Account Care mailed back my packet requesting additional documentation not asked for in the original packet. One additional document I have to physically travel 94 miles round trip to my nearest unemployment office to obtain.

Still no payments from Account Care but, plenty of calls from Sears/CityBank.

I'm starting to see that as long as Account Care has me jumping through hoops to supply them information and documentation AccountCare pays NOTHING.

By the way, Sears/CityBank continues to "gladly" take my Account Care premium payments from my Sears Card which puts me even further in debt!

I have complained to Sears via telephone and all they can offer is that I contact Account Care.

It seems that Sears has no problem selling a product i.e. "Account Care", a product which they refuse to stand behind.
