A salesman from secure payment systems came by our store and told us he had a company that would help customers be able to post date checks up to 4 months.He told me all we had to do was lease this check machine from northern leasing for $106.00 per month for 48 months.The machine we recieved was an old model and took forever to process checks thru it.Then the next month came and there was a chargeback because a customer stopped payment on her check because she did not need furniture any more.

We were told unconditionally ther would be no chargebacks as long as we had approvals on checks. We could not sue customer because we did not have a contract with her. It was between her and secure systems. We lost our furniture and $4800.00 for a old check machine Northern Leasing will not cancel and Secure Payments will not pay us for the furniture.the salesmans name was steve something,we tried to sue him but he had already moved and our attorney told us it would be hard to collect from a company in California. It seems that is the state where most scam artists hide.Northern Leasing and Secure Systems are very untrustworthy to say the least. Dealers beware of these companies.

I have worked with SPS for over 3 years doing exactly what "Steve" was doing.  SPS nor Northern are the problems.  Your Sales Rep did you wrong in more ways than 1.  First is the lease, signing a non-cancellable 48 month lease with a total cost to you of over $5,000 is insane !!!  A total Rip-Off by the Sales Rep but also a dumb decision by YOU.  Northern called you and went over the terms of the lease and told you about the non-cancellable nature of the lease. They do this with everyone.



Next the Sales Rep did you wrong by not training you on the proper way to use this service.  A 90 day payment plan for $4,800 worth of furniture is not what this program is for.  Our average ticket is $750.00. 90 days is plenty of time to pay off $750 but 90 days is not long enough for $4k+.



Plus the fees are based on the high limit you set up with the Rep and SPS. You must have set up the highest rate of $5,000.00.  The fees for $5k are the same if a purchase of $500 is made. You should have been told this information by "Steve".  Our Clients very rarely go over a $2,000 limit



SPS also does not charge you back if a check is returned NSF. This is what you are paying the fees to them for- to cover the NSF checks.  Dealing with Consumers that need this form of payment is risky and SPS charges to cover this risk.  You should have been trained on all these facts.



The agreement you signed with SPS can be cancelled at any time, you just need a 30 day notice for all fees to stop.  You were sold a "bag of goods" that was not truthfull and you were grossly miss-led on the facts.  These are grounds to get the lease charged back to the Rep.  Northern will play hard ball but they price themselves to cover a percentage of charge backs as Sales Reps will lie.  Some from lack of knowledge and training and some because they can't sell the proper way.



I wish I could give you the name of the Sales Office I work through as we have set up many Merchants that have been burned by the Bad Apples out there with all new equipment and service at NO COST!



The owner of our Company is trying to right the wrongs being done out in the field.  It is funny though that 99% of the bad apples selling this service are from an X-Insurance Group.  You would think Insurance Agents would be honest!    Our Company's name is Check90, hope this doesn't get blocked.
