Your Credit Reoprt

AUTHOR: Huffette - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 24, 2013

You can file on your redit report for a correction.  It will take thirty days, but if they do not respond to the request the credit bureaus are required to take it off.  Go to all three credit bureaus and file for corrections.  Challenge the validity of the report.

Judgments on credit reports

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 08, 2009

The Fair Credit Reporting Act states that a JUDGMENT can be listed on credit reports about you for as long as the statutue of limitations for the State inwhich the court that made the award is located in.

For example:  The SOL in New York State for money judgments is 20 years.  This means that a judgment from a NY court may be reported on credit reports for 20 years from the DATE when the court made the award.

You should contact your State Attorney General Office to ask what the statute of limitations is for civil judgments in your state-that's how long this judgment can be listed on credit reports about you.

As the previous rebuttal stated, even though the judgment is PAID, the judgment may still be listed on credit reports, although you can mail proof of the judgment being satisfied to the CRA so that the listing correctly states that the judgment has been satisfied.

Hi;

I read your post, and I have to side with the company on this, sorry. It was your error by not paying your loan in a timely fashion, and I understand that you had to go through some tough times, but that's not the companies fault. They can keep it on your credit up to 7 years if they chose, even if paid. That's what people don't seem to understand, even if you pay your debt it can still report on your credit, however it has to say that it's been paid. Since you had a judgment, it's truly is up to the courts as they are reporting it, so wasting your and their time will not do anything to help you. So sorry!
