Jim Raby came reccomended to us from the Tractor Supply in Sevierville TN. to do an electric gate repair. He showed up after we called him in mid October 2012. We told him our exit sensor was not working for vehicles leaving our home. He installed a new sensor that was half as long as the broken one. We told him that is dangerous because it required vehicles to stop at the highest pitch of our steep driveway waiting for the gate to open. He told us a longer one was on order and would switch them out when it came in. He charged us $450.00 for the repair which also included the cost of the longer sensor. He also talked us into a maintenance contract for a year of service for $500.00.

After several attempts to contact him he came back with a new opener for emergency vehicles that would open the fence when it hears a siren. We had inquired about such a thing so we agreed and paid him $800.00. We asked about the new sensor and was told still not in. After he installed the new device he went to test it and NOTHING would work. He kept working to try to correct the problem . He then asked me if I had the owners manual so he could take it home to review all his connections were right. I express concern that the fence would not now work and he said he would be back tomorrow to make the repair. I also expressed concern about the manual having all of our codes written down in it and he assured me they were safe.

Now it is January 2013 and after at least 25 calls he finally returned our call to tell us he was having problems with his heart, and as soon as he had his pacemaker put in in just a couple days he would be there to make the repairs. As of this 26th. day of January 2012 and another couple of calls today hearing his voice mail announcing his business under another name called gates and fencing  it is clear to us he will never return. Our main concern is him having our codes. Never Never use this man under any circumstances for sure one thing he will rip you off.
