Security Tools-PC Bug-Repair, Alan Marks I was online searching when a pop up security tools came up and said had viruses and must pay Internet

I was searching online the other night when a pop up came up that said Security Tools and I had several viruses and trojans that were found and in order to get them off and not harm my computer I needed to pay $79.95. Well I did not want to pay that. I knew I already had a good virus protection on my computer. But when I tried to click the x to close the pop up box, it kept coming back up and would not let me do anything.  It was like it froze my computer up to where I could not do anything with it. So in order to go on with what I was doing I ended up paying the $79.95 with my debit card. After I paid it, it scanned my computer and said it was all fixed and then let me go on with what I was doing. I have not gotten back on my computer yet to see if I have any problems. My boyfriend asked me if I checked first to see if it might have been a scam.  I told him that I couldnt because it had my computer froze up. So I decided to get on my computer at work and search around to see if anyone else had this problem. Needless to say I found several. So I need to know now when I go back on my computer what I need to do. Do I try to figure out how to uninstall it? Should I expect possible problems? This person needs to be stopped. Looks like there are alot of us probably getting ripped off with this. But if it freezes up your system, what else can you do but to pay it right. Or at least thats what we are thinking and dont know what else to do.  Are we all going to get this $79.95 back? Can someone please email me back and let me know what I should or need to do and give me some more information on this please. Thanks!
