SECURUS TECHNOLOGIES, INC., SECURUS RICHARD SMITH CEO ALLOWS EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE OF EMPLOYEE WAGES, ENGAGES IN DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES, PREDATORY COMPANY Dallas Texas

I took a position with Securus technologies working in their call center at 3000 Kellway.  The position was through a temporary staffing company called MMC GROUP, aka, Chris Mitchell and Company.  At the time I was offered the position I asked the recruiter several questions about the rate of pay, the paydate and details of the job assignment which the recruiter answered. I then accepted the position and was invited to orientation.

In orientation i along with several others were handed over a dozen forms and told to sign them and the recruiter stated we had "5 minutes". We were shocked. It was several of us in the class and we told her we couldn't read these forms in five minutes. She didn't care. The rest of orientation was nothing but threats about the many ways we could be fired and that there was no such thing as an 'excused absence'. We were then informed that we needed to show up at Securus even though the class was filled just in case someone didn't show up and that we would be given a gift card. We were then threatened and told if we didn't show up, nomatter the reason, that we would not have a job at all.

Many of us drove over several miles to get to Securus (I drove 30 miles each way) that day to only be turned around and told to go home and handed a $5.00 Walmart gift card. The entire drive for me was around 60 miles and gas at the time was around $3.60 a gallon but i understand you do what you have to do until you can do better.

Two weeks later we were called into work at Securus and showed up to go through more threats from Securus training staff. We were informed that even if we "had heart attacks, were in car accidents, or were admitted into the hospital" that we would not get an excused absence. The trainer even mentioned when asked if we had a "sick child" could we take time off work to be with our child and she said "not even that would be excused". We were treated through the door as if we were NOTHING. Most of the new hires with the exception of one white male, were all black employees.

During the first few days of the training at Securus we learned that several details of the job we were told by MMC recruiters were LIES. We were given the wrong paydate and the wrong paycycle. We found out that we would have to wait nearly a month to see our first paycheck. We found out the pay cycle was biweekly instead of what we were told initially which was every week. We also found out several other details we were given of the job by MMC group's recruiters were FALSE.

People started to quit. Everyday we were threatened with job loss and the trainers at Securus cultivated an environment that was based on fear and not respect.  Everyday the trainer's email would at times pop up on the board as she was using a projector to show her computer screen and she would be complaining about various members of the class for trivial reasons.

Several members of the class decided to take their concerns about the misinformation we were given by MMC, aka, Chris Mitchell and Company, to Securus HR. Securus Human Resources told us "well, from what you're stating the recruiters embellished the details of the job", to which my coworker said "yes - they lied to us. They told us what we wanted to hear", at which point the HR Agent, a middle aged redhead with a northern accent and a big nose laughed and said "well that's what recruiters are suppose to do". 

What the Hell?!?

And to make matters worse the complaints made it back to MMC Group and several of us were called out of class and threatened with job loss again. The mmc hr person came in and "LIED". She informed us there were several managers who had lodged complaints against us. This couldn't have been as we had only spoke to managers in a group meeting for a few minutes and nothing was said out of turn. She LIED because we had lodged complaints against "HER" and that had reflected poorly on "HER".

I quit the job as I couldn't take it anymore. We were packed into a room with no windows and no airflow and we were shoulder to shoulder and were like sardines in a can. The room was often dark and the training was boring. Also the threats and misinformation and fear tactics were just too much. I turned in my badge and left.

When I quit I emailed the HR agent and my recruiter with several questions I had regarding receiving my last check. My emails were ignored. They had quickly responded to every other email I had sent before then but somehow this email went unanswered. 

I had had to send another email to managers at MMC and I finally recieved a phone call from Steve in HR who informed me that my pay would be cut down from $10.00 an hour to minimum wage which is $7.25 an hour. I was livid. Steve informed me that we had signed a document giving MMC the right to pay us minimum wage if we didn't complete the assignment. He overlooked my concerns about all of the misinformation we had been given.i told him we were only given 5 minutes and could not even read the documents and he did not care. 

I had driven roughly 60 miles a day roundtrip to come to that job and I was only getting $7.25 an hour? With gas being $3.60 a gallon? This company is AWFUL.

Stay away from MMC group, 105 Decker court, Irving, tx and Securus technologies 3000 kellway. They are abusive crooks in my opinion.
