SEF Publishers duplicate cancellation fees... 2nd fee charged after 8 months Bradenton Florida

I signed up for this magazine thing because it reminded me of Publisher's Clearinghouse. I thought the 1,000 online shopping spree would be anything I wanted to buy. When I signed up and went to the website and saw the junk I had to choose from, I decided to cancel the order.

When I canceled, within 10 days of opening the account, I was told I would be charged 60 dollars to cancel. I figured I would cut my losses and pay the cancelation fee instead of the 500 dollars the magazine would cost over 3 years. I gave them a credit card number and was told my obligation was over. I received a letter saying my fee was overdue and they had tried to contact me to clear the matter up. It was now going to the lawyers. They had not called me and I had given them a credit card to charge the cancellation fee! When they did charge my card, they charged 138.00. I figured...at least it was over.

8 months later, I noticed another charge on my credit card statement for 189.99. They had charged me another cancellation fee. I was given Judy Nye's phone number as she would help me clear up the matter. The first phone conversation I had with her, she told me to fax over a copy of my credit card statement with the first cancellation fee on it and she would call me back. She never called back. When I called her the next day, she said she had told me already that they would be sending me a refund check and hung up on me when I brought up that she didn't call me back.

She never verified my correct address. She wouldn't pick up the phone when I kept trying to call her back.

It is now 3 months later...I have supposedly been sent 2 refund checks that have not reached me. I have gotten Judy back on the phone, but for every time she actually talks to me, there are about 4 calls where she tells me to call back or that she'll call me back and she never does.

She just gave me a Fedex tracking number for the latest check. I looked today and it doesn't bring anything up.

I will call again this week and see what else I can do. Thank goodness I haven't actually paid the credit card bill. I will dispute the charge from that end. Hopefully I have enough information about what I've tried to do so I don't have to pay 200 dollars for being stupid and signing up for this thing in the first place.

I don't think I'll ever see any money from this company.
