I had a man and a woman show up at my door selling magazines. The guy gave a sob story about being homeless and selling magazines would help him remain out. I had initially filled out a check and while sitting down at my computer immediately afterwards, I looked up the information. I was shocked at what I found.
The name Self Starters Inc, never came up.
The address: 7021 E 197th St, Bradenton FL 34211, is a house that's for sale and has been for sale since 10/08.
The contact phone numbers for "customer service" is (219) 809-5732 and fax (219) 809-5734. The (219) 809-5732 is for L P E Consultants at 8557 W US Route 20 Michigan City, IN 46360. That address shows it to be a vacant lot across the street from the Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
I ran outside and got my check back. Who knows what would have happened. I would have paid $50 with a $15 processing fee.

Selfstarters,Inc.is an active corporation,the information for which can be found on the florida Department of State Website.SelfStarters,Inc.also holds all appropriate business licenses.Contrary to the statements contained in the Ripoff Report,the business address is a legitimate address,and absolutely is not listed for sale.The address from which the business operates is not a vacant lot,nor is it a cemetery.SelfStarters,Inc.provides its sales personnel with strict instructions on how to sell magazines;if what allegedly happened in the report actually occurred,it is totally against company policy.
SelfStarters,Inc.is a company that prides itself in providing employment opportunities for people who have not had any formal education or who may be underprivileged.
