If you are looking for blue book values on used boats, I would NOT recommend www.sellyourboatnow.com When you request a boat value, you are actually signing up to be harassed by telephone and email. If you can make it through the loud rehearsed sales script you can expect to be called a liar or some other insult when you don't say "YES".

When I sent a email to say "DO NOT CONTACT DO NOT CALL", I received about 4 more emails from this shady individual. Dont know his real name, dont care. I know that I went to that website and I got called At night, on a weekend and was told that "I blew a sale" and "I would lose a fortune", "You will never sell your boat". This predator is used to picking on the weak minded or people that are easily led. He called me...he insulted me...he hung up and began the emails. When will someone with the legal prowess or legislative know how shut down people like this? At least give us their name, address and lets put the truth out about people that ask for money when you don't know who they are. He is no different to me than the South African Lottery emails...only they are not smart enough to use a phone that doesnt give the number they are calling from. Since I have been threatened to be "Sued" from the "Legal" division, I realized that I have to post this online. I would love to see you sue me. Its not defamatory if its the TRUTH. If I called you a scumbag or vile baseless moral less bottom feeder, then you might have a leg to stand on. You are so used to people saying you are a scammer, you believe you are lawyer too!?!?

#2 Consumer Comment

I was a customer of sellyourboatnow.com - They were wonderful

AUTHOR: Jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 13, 2009

I read this posting on ripoffreport today, and have some relevant comments and experiences I would like to add.

I contacted sellyourboatnow.com for a free boat value quote 3 years ago. I found sellyourboatnow.com to be quick with their reply to my request. I recall receiving my boats valuation within a couple of hours of my initial request. At the same time, sellyourboatnow.com informed me that they felt that there were some people shopping for boats through their website, that they believed may want to speak with me.

I signed up for their service. sellyourboatnow.com brought forward 2 possible buyers for my boat within 3 days of my paying their fee. I thought their sign up fee was reasonable, and the speed with which they delivered buyers was impressive. As a direct result of their involvement, I sold a large Bayliner for just under $40,000 to a buyer who lived nearby my home on Long Island, New York.

I can say without any doubt, from my own experience, sellyourboatnow.com was not a scam company, and was responsible for selling my boat. I can also confirm that their company has existed for at least 3 years (as I dealt with them in 2006). So they are not a "fly by night", "shady" outfit, as implied and stated in this gentlemens posting.

Incidentally, I happen to make my living as an attorney in New York. My law practice mainly involves civil litigation. There is no doubt after reading the above posting and sellyourboatnow.com's reponse that:

a) The letter that sellyourboatnow.com sent to the gentlemen who posted this thread, was definitely written by an attorney. That is not a letter an ordinary, non legally educated person could have written.

b) The argument that the sellyourboatnow.com lawyer makes in the letter is correct. The gentlemen who wrote the above posting, is certainly guilty of defamation, and is very clearly attempting to harm sellyourboatnow.com. If sellyourboatnow.com takes legal action, sellyourboatnow.com will win in court against this gentlemen quite easily.

The person who wrote the posting declared their company a "scam". If you cannot prove that the company is perpetrating a scam, it is entirely illegal to do so. Similarly, I cannot post online that for example, John Doe is a burglar, unless I know for a fact, and can prove he has committed burglary's. I would be damaging Mr. Doe if I made such a statement, but I could not prove it to be true. A scam in this case would mean that the company is charging customers and then not performing the contracted services. The gentlemen who posted the thread above is making a false and defamatory statement, as if it is fact. It is entirely illegal to do so.

c) It is also a violation of the law to publish the emails you are sent by a company without their permission to do so.

There is not a court in the United States that would find this case, in favor of the person who posted the above thread. If sellyourboatnow.com follows through, and brings legal action, there is no doubt, that poster of the above statements will lose.

Freedom of speech is a widely misunderstood concept. In laymens terms, the right to free speech protects you from the government initiating laws that stop you from speaking or writing freely. However, a person cannot hide behind the cover of "free speech" when they are making defamatory statements about a company or individual. You do not have the legal right to do so. The primary assertion by the writer of this
posting is that sellyourboatnow.com is a "scam" company, and that he or she is going to "expose" the scam. But the assertion is false, and damaging to the company, and thus illegal and actionable. If the writer of the above post were my client, I would advise him or her, that their actions have left them in a very precarious position, and that they will lose a significant amount of money in a lawsuit, if sellyourboatnow.com decides to push forward. There is absolutely no conceivable way for the person who posted this thread to win. They have very clearly violated the law, with an intent to injure sellyourboatnow.com's business.

I have first hand experience dealing with sellyourboatnow.com. They did not scam me. The charged me a small fee, advertised my boat as they were contracted to do, and helped generate its sale very quickly. I can assume that they have done that hundreds, if not thousands of times before, for others (seeing as they have been in business for 3 or more years).

sellyourboatnow.com web site offers coersion when you talk about shady dealings on the internet

AUTHOR: The wrong guy to harass - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 12, 2009

So after you get the phone call with the coercive salesman and you don't go along with the shady dealings, you should expect to be immediately insulted. When you post comments online about your experience you will then be sued by the readily available lawsuit that is cut and pasted with a new name every day by the expert legal department. Where in the world can you find unscrupulous individuals than on the world wide web. What "legal" firm would not have a real lawyers office send emails. This tells me that this is someone who is used to having questionable business practices, so they act like a lawyers office is threatening you when it's the same shady salesman with the patent legalese response.

Hope you enjoy your experience with www.sellyourboatnow.com As they continue the ridiculous emails, I will continue to post them. I find it interesting that someone has the time and mental energy to try and explain that you do not have the right to express your experience with a so called company that has to resort to coercion to get results. Say what you will, but I can only speak of MY experience and there is no court in the US that would give this telemarketer the time of day. File away...I have lawyers too...and every single email is going to be posted online. Who falls for this stuff? Soliciting funds and calling my telephone number...wonder which side the judge would be on? hmmm? Laughable. Your legal prowess is as much of a joke as your seemingly legitimate business. I will see you in court buddy...just keep the threatening emails coming...dig your hole deeper.
