Serenity Horse Rescue SHR rescue scam! ripoff! equine abuse! starvation of animals! donations used for personal use! Internet

This "rescue" currently has no physical location but the horses are believed to be at a property address of 5185 State Route 571, New Carlisle, Ohio.  They have their physical address listed as the last known place they were evicted from for failure to pay rent and damages done to the property.  That address is 5224 Dearth Road, Springboro, Ohio.  We believe that the president of the rescue is currently "homeless" and living in a hotel with 3 of her children.  We're unsure of where the numerous barn cats and six dogs (including 3 puppies) are living since the rescue was evicted, as there is no structure fit for them to live in at the address where we believe the horses to be.

SHR has buried over TWENTY horses in less than 4 years on the property on Dearth Rd, WITHOUT the property owners knowledge OR permission.  Most of these horses died without any vet assistance (i.e. humane euthanization) and many were left to suffer endlessly before finally succumbing to either disease, starvation or gross neglect. 

The president of this rescue, Shula Woodworth, has recently stated that the horses are filled with parasites because she doesn't have the funds to worm them.  The rest of this statement is my own personal account of what I've seen when I volunteered there as fundraising coordinator from August 2010 thru February 2011.  1.  selling donated goods and/or feed and hay for personal gain  2.  inadequate amount of food for horses  3.  too many horses (and other grass grazing animals) on the property (unable to sustain over 40 horses on less than 17 acres of grass)  4.  extremely dangerous conditions for the horses to live in (i.e. broken fencing/fenceposts jutting out of the ground, debris on the ground, horses roaming the property freely around rusted trailers, water troughs etc)  5.  inadequate shelter for all animals being housed at the rescue (i.e. 34 stall barn being used for 40+ horses, donkeys, burros, mules, goats, pigs, etc)  6.  inadequate vet and farrier care  6.  not enough outside shelter for horses to escape the elements (i.e. some pastures have NO trees and NO shelter/lean to  7.  the president of SHR physically lifting 30-50 lb bales of hay/water buckets, feed bags, etc but yet claims she is getting disability from a riding accident while residing in England.

Many, many others have had problems and concerns with this so called rescue and you can visit us on the Facebook page:  Serenity Horse Rescue Duped Me.  We have over 280 supporters at this time, many of whom are former volunteers, donators, or had a horse surrendered to SHR and they've all told their stories.  If it were just a few former volunteers with just a bad story or two to tell, it might be different, but we've ALL been investigating this rescue and it's HORRIBLE what we've found!  Please feel free to visit that page and inform yourself before considering getting involved with this woman or her so called rescue! 

I was taken to court under false charges of civil harassment and stalking (case dismissed!) and have numerous threats made to me personally for speaking my mind; including a letter from Ms. Woodworth's lawyer demanding that I "cease and desist" telling people about her and this rescue.  I've made it my personal mission, along with hundreds of others, to educate people so that they don't lose a family pet (be it goat, alpaca, dog, horse, whatever, this woman will take them ALL!) to "Shady Shula"!
