Services Unlimited Plus ripoff - It just amazes me that people would come up with such elaborate lies and use sick children even to take people's hard earned money. Glendale Arizona

Pretty much the same thing that everyone described has happened to me. A guy came to my door this past Saturday (4/26) saying that he was seling magazines to earn points and whoever earned the most points could win a trip to Mexico and get a semester's worth of books free.

Now, just being a recent college grad, I could sympathize with this guy on wanting to win some free textbooks. I asked him what program he was from and he told me the Comm. & Journ. Dept. at UNM. That just so happens to be the department I graduated from, so that got us to talking. He also told me that he was the Goalie for the UNM soccer team.

I told him I didn't want any magazines though, and he told me that I could donate 3 years of Disney Adventures to a child at the Albuquerque Children's Hospital. He hit my soft spot. So, I gave him a check for $38.00, and he actually stayed around and talked for about an hour, so by this time I was trusting him. What a mistake.

Right after he left I looked up his name on the UNM directory - I couldn't find him anywhere. I looked up the roster for the soccer team and there was no one by the name of "Lance Lefner", the name this guy gave me. So, right away I went and mailed the cancellation slip.

I called today (5/1) to see if my cancellation request was received, I talked to two people, and the last one told that the person that does cancellations (Jody) was not in and to call back on Monday. So, I'm going to do that, but I have a feeling I'm just going to get the run around.

I'll update if I ever get a response or some action is taken. It just amazes me that people would come up with such elaborate lies and use sick children even to take people's hard earned money. It just makes it harder for the legit people really trying to help others.
