On September 19th 2008, my brother and I utilized CarryOut Courier Delivery service to purchase 1 beef and broccoli mean, one chicken and broccoli meal and five egg rolls. Immediatley after opening the food, we noted that 3 egg rolls were burnt and 2 were undercooked. The under cooked egg rolls were dangerous as they contained chunks of raw pork. It was very disheartening.

After one bite of the beef and broccoli meal, it became clear that the beef was in fact pork. That meal was unedible due to the religious beliefs of my brother. The chicken and broccoli meal was also not chicken it was pork as well, so I could not even trade him for him to be able to eat. The entire meal with the exception of the three burnt egg rolls was inedible due to raw pork. We did not eat any of the food in question. there was also what appeared to be winged ants in the rice. It was horribly disgusting.

We immediatley called carry out courier who called Shangrila and attempted to resolve the situation but lilly was uncooperative. The representative at Carryout gave us the direct line to contact Shangrila and when we asked for Lilly, she was rude and adimant that the meat was cooked, though was unsure if it was what we ordered or Pork, after twenty minutes, Lilly continously disputed the meals and demanded that we return them.

When we agreed to scoop it out of the garbage per her request she stated she did not care what it looked like that Carryout had paid them and so if we issued a chargeback it would take from Carryout and not them so too bad. She became belligerant rude and hung up on us.

I attempted to call again and was disappointed to see that she would not resolve this situation. We ended up ordering pizza from Papa John's which can be verified as the order was placed nine minutes after the phone call with Lilly ended.

This food is a health hazard and it is not the issue of $20 but more the issue of public saftey and proper customer service. After well over 100 orders with Carryout courier they can verify that I do not ever complain, this was the first time in so many orders ever, so the food had to be terrible and un edible in order for me to not only complain but then subsequently order pizza.

Strange restaurant story.

AUTHOR: Wilson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 12, 2008

I did a search on google.com and I found favorable reviews for Shangrila Chinese restaurant in York, PA.

I am Chinese and I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area so I have experience what it is like to eat many Chinese dishes.

1) I personally think CarryOut Courier Delivery may have ordered the wrong dishes, pork dishes instead of beef and chicken. Raw pork does not look like raw chicken or raw beef. I have seen dishes served with raw beef and raw fish, but I have never seen dishes served with raw pork. Almost all Chinese restaurants use woks with high flamed temperatures so I personally don't think the pork dishes were raw.

2) Egg rolls are filled with cooked meat then deep fried not pan fried so I do not know how the egg rolls could be burnt. Potstickers are supposed to be burnt.

3) I do not condone the Chinese restaurant contact's customer service (Lilly), but if I was here and someone said I sold dishes with raw meat, I would want to see the dishes with raw meat.

4) Did the receipt from CarryOut Courier Delivery show dishes with beef and chicken, or dishes with pork?

5) For the local health inspector to close down the restaurant, they would have to have reports of food borne illness such as e-coli or salmonella not just a couple of reports of raw pork.

6) If Shangrila has been serving raw pork then why have they not been shut down?

Of course I called the health department, I had to wait until the next day as their office was closed but yeah, I guess I was not clear in that, I thought it was implied as it is a common sense action

Me, my boyfriend and his mother ordered from there and OMG the same exact thing happend with the raw pork it was nasty nasty nasty. We filed a BBB complaint and put in a complaint to the health department. They said there were several similar stories on record. It is a shame that they have not been shut down!
