Sharkey Transportation Inc Company offered position, then withdrew offer after I gave notice to current company. Quincey Illinois

I was contacted by a recruiter for Sharkey Transportation after posting my resume on the internet. I went over my application with Stan Baker who was my recruiter with Sharkey on Dec 1, 2008. A few days later Mr. Baker called and informed me I was good to go and set a orientation date of Dec. 15th, because I told him I would need to give me current employer a two week notice. I gave notice and turned my truck in on Dec 12th with J.B. Hunt.

On or around Dec 12th, I called Mr. Baker as I was getting concerned he had not talked with me about transportation to Quincey for orientation. Mr. Baker stated that due to the holidays, that date had been moved back to January 5th, 2009. I was again told everything was a "go" and he looked forward to getting me into orientation. On December 16th, Mr. Baker called me and told me he would contact me the following week to arrange transportation for orientation and apologized for the December 15, 2008 cancellation due to the holidays.

Then yesterday, December 17th, I received a call saying that Sharkey Transportation would not be able to hire me due to 2 previous D.U.I's that are 8 years and 20 years old. I disclosed all this on my original application on line and on Sharkeys application. I specifically asked Mr Baker if this would be a problem when I first conversed with him, because I did not want to quit my job and then not have one if anything came up. Mr. Baker assured me several times that I was a "go" and pending passing my D.O.T. and orientation then Sharkey would have a position for me.

Now I have been off work almost three weeks right before Christmas, have had my orientation moved back two more weeks and now find out that they will not hire me due to "new policies". Although their web site still states, no D.U.I's within past five years.

I dont know how these recruiters sleep at night knowing they are messing with peoples lives and how non chalant they are when they screw up and have no remorse at all.
