Perhaps you have already read the many reports on this site. It is true there is both good and bad when it comes to this company. Odds are you will learn some helpful information, and possibly help some people get a good insurance policy ... but the odds are very good that you will not make nearly as much money as you hope, and will not last long with the company.

I did work for them. I was a top producer one time, albeit for a short period of time, and I did not want to stop working for them when I did. I was basically forced to stop working for them due to poor leads and actually making less money than I was spending each week just to keep my job. Upon talking to another top producing agent who left, who spoke to other top agents who had left, the story is pretty much the same.

The "higher powers that be" (RJR and his crew) with ensure you are in a situation where you will quit in order to avoid paying you residual income. If you earn or win anything in one of their contests, you may or may not receive your reward. Poor leads are common (I started out with mostly good leads, but over time I was given recycled leads) Sending you further and further away from home will take place, and if need be, making unreasonable requests to essentially wear you out and force you to quit or walk away.

Good men, hardworkers, not afraid to put in very long hours day after day, who were properly trained, knew how to close, etc. have gone before you and eventually had to leave. You can prove you are superhuman, a glutten for punishment, or want to spend more money than you make, but it is my suggestion, from having "been there, and done that", to look at other companies in the insurance industry or in a different industry all together. It is not for everyone. The average salary is reported to be about $24K per year for insurance agents, so for every one who is making big bucks and 6-figure salaries, there are a few who make average incomes, and many who are just scraping by or wosre - and most likely you will be one of the those ... signing up with SHC will probably help ensure that.

I have other inside "dirt" and it is quite amazing that RJR would treat people the way he has, but I don't want to slander him, or expose the private information people have told me. So if you are looking for a management position, or even a staff position, I would also say "beware".

Good luck in your search! And may God be with you.
