I was interested in purchasing a new car in February of 2008. My parents had dealt with Nissan for 18 years at the time, so they recommended Nissan. At this time, I had a 2001 Lexus IS300 I wanted to trade-in, so we went to the dealership to view the cars.
Eventually, a financing plan was generated; it enstated that I would be a member of their VIP program; along with my payments, etc. I thought it was pretty decent, so I went in the next day also with my thousand-dollar down-payment to find a different contract. They tried to rush me into signing it. I got kind of upset with the fact they had changed it, so I told them I wanted the keys to my Lexus back; and I didn't want to do business with them. They then, got on the phone (so they say) and as a result, my original contract was regenerated. I specifically asked if I still was a VIP member; the salesman said "Yes...everything is still the same." I looked over the contract; and it said I was a VIP member, so I signed.
When I was due for my oil change, I took the car to the servicing department; and was told I was not a VIP member. I showed them my membership card--they replied with "It's not active." I went in to speak with the manager; he then said I wasn't a member. I tried to talk to him, but he then went on to say, "You've already purchased the car, it's no longer our problem." Then went on to tell me to "get out of his store!" My mother was with me at the time; and she couldn't believe that after 18 years of purchasing several vehicles from them, they treated her as if her business did not matter!
I currently am kind of stuck with this car--not to mention, the key is already not working!!!!! It's only been two years. It was my first new car experience; and from it I know: I WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN!!!!!

I work for a competing manufacturer.
Your post makes it clear that you were ripped off by the dealer, not Nissan.
This an important difference to understand, if the car is still under warranty any Nissan Dealer can deal with it.
I recommend using the Nissan web site to avoid the rip off house you dealt with to start, and of course report the problem dealer to Nissan.
