Shoe Mania ripoff Manager Sammy "Sammy" Shell game and false advertisingcheating the customer New York New York

Shoe Mania is currently holding a 'Buy One, get the other at half price' sale.

I found 3 pairs of shoes downstairs.

Pink Danskos: $59 (color was faded on one shoe)
Striped BCPs: $19
Gold Sandal Cole Han's: $59

I talked to Sammy "Sammy" the manager to ask him to reduce the pair of color faded shoes by 50%, and offer the sale on the Cole Han's and the BCPs.

He told me he'd give me the Cole Han's for $25, the Danskos's for $25, and the BCPs for regular cost.

I signed the Amex for $74.93, and he stamped the receipt Final SAle. I didn't study it.

When I got home, I discovered he'd left out the pink Dansko's from the shopping bag.He had cleverly written up the receipt with only 2 shoe sales, betting I'd never look at it until I got home. Neither price reflected any kind of SALE--AS ADVERTISED.

I went back, hoping that he'd unintentionally left the third pair of shoes out of the bag. But he denied our verbal agreement and told me that when he asked if I wanted the Dansko's at half off, I'd said 'no,' so he didn't include them, and didn't give me a sale price! We argued and he denied saying he'd given me 50% off on the defective shoes, but neither did he offer me the advertised SALE price on the shoes that he did put in the bag.

I demanded a refund and he gave it to me.

I have NEVER had this happen to me in New York City. This is the kind of shell game that takes place in a third world marketplace.

Owner Mark Cohen should be ashamed, but apparently he supports and advocates this method of doing business, based on the many complaints against the store.
