I saw the special that shopdani.com was offering through it's Bella name on the Facebook Sorority Life application. I thought it sounded reasonable, buy jewelry for 9.00, no shipping and receive a shipment of jewelry semi-monthly to review. You'd get charged automatically for each shipment. I thought I'd get a chance to see the jewelry then decide if I wanted to continue the membership before I was charged for any additional shipments.
Imagine my surprise when, two days after the 9.00 charge appeared on my bank statement, two additional charges for 68.00 each appeared. I called my bank to confirm the charges, then immediately called shopdani.com.
I spoke with a rep there that tried to assure me the charges were my fault for not picking a "shipping frequency" which I quickly disputed by pointing out that their website says the shipments will be semi-monthly. I also told her I wanted my membership cancelled immediately, which she did.
The next day, I called to speak to a representative to confirm my account had been cancelled. She told me the shipments were the result of a "computer glitch" and she was sorry for the trouble. But, the account was cancelled and I could just refuse the shipments for a full refund. I told her I'd be sending back all the shipments and she seemed shocked that I'd want to return the 9.00 shipment with the two 68.00 shipments.
Then, I had to call back a third time to get the tracking numbers for the shipments. I was told they would arrive UPS and I could just refuse them...well, they arrived UPS all right. To my local post office which then delivered them so I had to make a trip to the post office to drop them off marked "Refused, Return to Sender". I did this for all three packages, one on a Friday and two the next day.
I called the company yet again (for the fourth time for those keeping track) to let them know I'd refused the packages and see if they'd received them back yet. This was the Thursday after I sent them back. I mean, they were only going back to Illinois. Why would it take longer than 5 days? I was told they were processing a huge batch of returns and my packages were probably in with those items but not to worry because refunds only take 14 days.
So, I called (Yep...number 5) again today (June 9th) and was told that my packages had not been received. It's now been nearly two weeks and today's story was that refunds take up to 8 weeks to process. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold for 10 minutes. When the supervisor came on, she told me there was nothing they could do to expediate my refund and I would have to wait at least 30 days before I could inquire about the refund I was expecting.
After that call, I called my bank to open up an investigation into the charges that occurred on my account. Hopefully my bank will be able to get the money back for me.
