SHRIMP SHACK DECEPTIVE RIP OFF 2 for 1 ENTREE DEAL with FORCED GRATUITY Fort Myers, Florida

The SHRIMP SHACK in FORT MYERS is a total RIP OFF.  They advertise a 2 for 1 entree deal in the Southwest Florida Tourist magazine.  It is not what is advertised and you better be wearing high magnification glasses and read the small print.  The servers can not even explain how the deal works.  It is like a game show.  You order from list #1 and then you have to order some other food from list #2.  You need a computer to understand how it works.  Then the real fun.  My wife and I ate there for the first time a week ago and the server gave us a free beer with one paid for.  And there was never a forced tip on the price of two entrees prior to the coupon. 

Tonight we went back for what we thought would be a fine dining experience.  Tonight (11-21-10) was like a horror show.  First we were met by a fat and profusely sweating server who was the most disgusting waitress ever.  Her rules about the 2 for 1 entree coupon were entirely different than the first experience we had at this restaurant.  She siad we had to buy two beverages or we would have to pay for the two entrees as if there was no coupon.  WOW~  So I had to order two beers when just a few nights ago I ordered one and got one free, and it had nothing to do with happy hour.  She summoned the manager to speak with us.  This was a riot.  AN overbearing, gruff individual with a superiority complex came over to our table and started lecturing me about the rules and small print on the 2 for 1 entree special.  Get it SPECIAL, yeah right! 

At the end we get a bill with a forced 15% gratuity on the non special price.  In other words we were forced to pay a tip on a meal for two at double the price.  Are you kidding me.  Then this bag of garbage fights with me over the small print in their coupon and takes my check back and upcharges me as if there is no special.  I advised her that the service did not warrant a 15% tip on any total no less the rip off she was trying to land on me.  She then said she would call the police if I did not leave the 15% tip.

A nightmare.  Stay clear of this place.  The advertised deals are a joke and misleading, the food is mediocre, and the staff is twisted and really harsh.
