Shumaker Auto Motors Clayton NC

We purchased a used vehicle from Shumaker Motors 4 weeks ago. I gave them a $1000 check for the initial purchase and another $1000 check to hold until I had the funds for them to cash it. Shumaker Motors told us We will wait for your call before we cash it but guess what? We got up today and our business account was NEGATIVE $300. I checked and they cashed the check anyway without me calling and telling them to do so. I had actually emailed the sales person Anthony and told him the funds would be ready next week but he didnt wait or respond to tell me they would cash it. Watch yourself if you purchase from Shumaker Motors company, when someone tells you one thing and does another in this type of business that is very bad business practice in my opinion. Look for another company that provides used auto sales in Clayton, NC you will be better off. It's sad to deal with dishonest people like this.

Not 100% Honest

Actually the dealer told me when I purchased the vehicle "We will not cash the check until you tell us we can" and I was told this more than once. Without calling and asking or sending an Email they cashed the check. So again I say, if you want someone honest do not choose this dealer or their services.

I have also opened a website to compile all the bad reviews for this business. I will continue to collect them and put them into one, easy to find place.

We sold a 2005 BMW 325I to Micheal Hamlett on August 15, 2011. He bought the car for his son and they were both thrilled with the vehicle and still are. He was supposed to trade in a Land Rover in which I was going to allow him $1000 towards the purchase of the BMW.

The day of the actual sale he informed me that he no longer wanted to trade the vehicle in. Due to financing restrictions we needed him to put money down or trade the vehicle in. I told him we would work with him. I gave him 30 days to make the $1000 payment and asked him to call me if the check was good before hand.

We deposited his check on Friday September 16, 2011 at 5:45 pm which was the end of business on the 31st day. He sent me a email on Sep 16 at 6:06 pm after the check was deposited and asked that I wait until the end of next week to deposit his check. By that time it was too late for me to do anything.

We gave him ample time and consideration for him to pay the money that was owed to us. Like we do with every customer, we made every effort to work with Mr. Hamlett to insure his complete satisfaction. After 30 days we had to deposit the check.

We are small business owners and we have bills and overhead that need to be paid as well. We sell a couple hundred cars a year. A couple bad reviews over the last 2 years are not representative of our values and the way we conduct business here at Shumaker Motors Inc.

A Bad Business Practice...

What is a bad business practice is writing post dated checks! You said the account is negative by $300. That means you have a business account and can't afford a measly $300! Maybe you can't even afford the car!
