They have a annual subscription plan where you can download certain number of images. When you reach that number, they automatically re-bill you. Which is fine.
Only thing is someone hacked my account and started downloading images like crazy...going over the allotted amount. Which means shutterstock kept rebilling me.
I called customer service, spoke with "patrick" who was very rude at the the start of the phone call and kept interupting me. When I explained to him what was going on...he BLAMED ME. He said it was my fault and MY responsibility to make sure the account doesnt get hacked. When I explained to him that it was both my and Shutterstocks responsibility....he hung up on me!
No refund... btw.
I have never given out my password to anyone. I also have not accessed the site in MONTHs. Which means they were hacked...and it makes me wonder how many other members of shutterstock have had there logins compromised and are being charged for something they did NOT BUY!
I smell a major ripoff here.....

Well seems I was wrong about Shutterstock, and in particular Patrick, the customer service agent who I was dealing with. We all have off days, and it seems everyone involved was having one of those. I wrote my report out of anger and should have waited until I had more details.
In any event, one of Patrick's collegues at shutterstock did indeed call me back later that day. They gave me a refund. Not only that, Patrick did call me back today to apologize and explain the situation. Props to Patrick for doing that....I know it wasn't easy. But that phone call and yesterday... changed my opinion about Shutterstock for the better.
So, I offer this correction to my report, and say that Shutterstock exceeded my expectations for customer service. And yes, I say that even after yesterdays mishap.
If ripoffreport could somehow delete my original report It would be greatly appreciated.
