Ongoing problem for my mid-80's parents is the bombardment of solicitation phone calls.

So at 8 pm on a Tuesday night, a call comes in from (another) Indian sounding guy wanting to send out thier diabetes package.  I start questioning him and (no surprise) I get hung up on (again)!

But this time the number on caller ID (678-203-2052) has a recording to get your "$100 Wal-Mart rebate card" by just pushing 1.

American sounding "Eric" answers and it's on.  I play the part of an 82 year old, fixed income woman with no computer or cell phone or tablet, and he proceeds to ask for my name, address, and phone number to send me my voucher.  But he has questions: Blah, blah, blah Home Depot and do I have remodling in my future? NO.

Blah, blah, blah do you have diabetes or pain? NO.

Blah, blah, blah TV, movies, the internet.........I'm NOT 82 and can't figure out what the fast talk is about!  But no problem, for just $6.99 processing fee he'll hook me up even though I've explained I don't have a computer, and all I have to do is call 877-731-8207 to cancel and still get to keep the $100 voucher.  Check out the website, the same number is listed there.  Try calling it - it's a bullshit recording the says "one moment" and then say "good-bye" and hangs up.

So I tell "Eric" to call me back since I don't have a Visa and I'll get my granddaughters.  He does (like any greedy theif would do!), and now it's an Atlanta, GA number (404-410-2488).  "Are you in CA, Eric?" I ask.  "Yes."

"Why does the caller ID say Atlanta, GA?"  He studders and admits the company is in Atlanta.

Wish I could burn these low life trash of our society, but instead kept up to old lady act, turned him down and asked to get removed from there call list.

Yeah, like that'll happen!  Here's some other numbers I've collected over the past month from solicitations running simuliar scams (most of which when dialed come up as non-exsistant or unusable numbers):

Sure thing for Sidetick.tv

AUTHOR: Carlos - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I am following up with this same scam which I happen to fall for. I have to admit I was a sucker and gave them my credit card information for 6.99.  Here is what they "don't" tell you.

1. The rebate card you have to jump through hoops to get it to work and it is such as pain that you are never going to use it. I mean a real pain. You have to register with a rebate company and there are certain restrictions also.

2. You get sidetick.tv which sucks really bad. There are 200 movies at the most and they are terrible.

3. The worse part is you are not able to "cancel" you subscription because you cannot get a hold of anyone at the 877-731-8207. I called numerous times to get support and nothing. I ended up calling a person back at a number I had stored in my phone named Ann who told me to call the 877 number. I said it didn't work. She said that it does then gave me an email address for them which doesn't work either.

I also got their medical and ID theft protection deal which I receive "after" the time I had the opportunity to cancel. I had two different numbers for them. I was able to get a hold of some guy which said it was ID watchguard and prepaid legal for 24.95 a month. I was told it would be 19 dollars a month.

After I asked how to use the gift cards and they can be used online at some weird shopping mall online to buy suitcases, duffle bags, and other lame stuff nobody wants.

At the end of the day I was charged 6.99 then 24.95 twice for two services supposedly, and I suppose to be able to talk to a doctor with the phone number and it is worthless. The doctor supposedly told me to take aspirin for my headache so for 25 bucks a month you get advice you could get for free by using Google.

I called the number back where I got a hold of Ann then I talked to an Amy which I requested a refund she told me I had to call the same dumb 877 number and I stated it didn't work. I asked for her full name, but she wouldn't give it to me. So I said, if you are legit why wouldn't you give me your name? She said it was company policy to not do that.

Me being sneaky decided to hang up and call the number later to get a supervisor, I got a hold of a Michael Miller or Moller, he was hesitate about his name also. I told him about all the crap on the internet about sidetick.tv and it was a scam. You might want to lose your job now so you not part of it. He told me it was not a scam. I told him I am living proof it is a scam only a small one that it flies under the radar of the authorities.

The worse part is I had to cancel my card and get a new one so they would not charge me anymore and I never was able to get 100 dollars off at Walmart or use 200 dollars in some stupid online gift cards.
