John Hopkins and his company Signature Roofing LLC are bogus.

John comes across as a nice guy.  Even as a relatively sincere guy.  But, it's false.

He cares only about himself and what he can get from you.

If he's putting a roof on your home, he's going to subcontract the work out to the lowest bidder... which will likely be some undocumented workers.  When there is a problem with their work... good luck on getting satisfaction.  Check with the Better Business Bureau in McKinney, Dallas, or even in Fort Worth if you wonder about this.

In my instance, he retained me to help him take his business public and raise additional working capital.  Despite telling me initially that he had been in business since 1990... it seems that the company was only formed in 2007.  He lied to me about this.  Then, when I asked for due diligence information... including financial materials, biographical information of officers etc... they refused.  It seems that they have submitted their reports to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service without ever having prepared a general ledger.  They even filed their paperwork with the Texas Comptroller's office like that.  What this means is that the paperwork they filled was likely very inaccurate.

My agreement with the Hopkins and his company was pretty straight forward.  They were to pay me a signing bonus and then they were to pay off my fee over a period of months.  From day one, Hopkins and his crew did everything they could to mine my brain of information.  They were trying to get the information and my help without paying me in full.  And sure enough, after a couple months of payments... they stopped paying me.  Heck, they just stopped returning calls etc....  When I told them they still owed me for the entire contract regardless of whether they wanted to go forward or not, they had their lawyer send me a letter.  As if that was going to intimidate me.

Hopkins has done business under different names.  There's a reason for that.

My suggestion is not to deal with these guys.  The risk is just too high.

Find a different roofing company.

Signature Roofing = bad business

AUTHOR: Maureen - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 19, 2014

This company has NOT been is business for 20years.  Mr. Hopkins & I have a son together who is just now 20. He has been a car salesman most of his life. I read these reports and it makes me sick.  He has paraded around the OKC area recently (which I call home) disguised as a professional company. At one point I suppose he chose to use my address because I am now having angry clients knock on my door & send mail to my home. I haven't been married to this dishonest person in about 18 years.  I have never worked for this person nor received money from Signature Roofing. It does not surprise me that he chooses to dodge responsibility. When I read the rebuttals here and with the BBB it makes me sad that they reference "department" of their company. There are no "departments"  This is a one man crazy train. Sometimes he had a receptionist I think and now I see this person Tish Reynolds listed along with him on the BBB reports out of Dallas.  This business with all these "departments" is run by John Hopkins & his girl Tish. That is it, all, zilch.

To Jeff who began this thread. I would like to say that you have hit the nail on the head. When I read the part where John Hopkins calls to action for you to make yourself available to the server, I almost spit my coffee out. This is John Hopkin's famous move. He's the one that runs from process servers...a true fact.  And in case you would like to serve John with some papers here is the proper address:

8420 Old Hickory Lane

McKinney, Texas 75050

I certainly feel for these people who have obviously been ripped off.  I'd like to tell you that you'll recover your losses however, I'm beyond certain you will not. The most sickening part is the "Christian" part. Oh please. A good Christian wouldn't owe back child support for 18 years and drive around in Mazda RX8, Mercedes & own a home worth approx 400K. That is called a dead beat and Jeff NAILED it.

Lastly, it's sad that this John Hopkins would hire an attorney to write his rebuttal so he can keep ripping people off instead of using that money to make retribution. Geez, if they canvas your neighborhood PLEASE just lock your deadbolt and say "No"

Just wanting to set the record straight that my home where I happily live with my family has never and will never be a satellite office for Signature Roofing or John Hopkins.  His office is at Ms Reynolds home and in his car.

Hopkins & Signature Roofing -- "Where's The Beef"?

AUTHOR: Nobleserf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 30, 2009

I am always amazed.

All I can say to Hopkins and to Signature is... bring it on boys.  I've always been available for service.  I have never ducked anyone.  There's no need to duck anyone.  It costs me nothing to drag Hopkins and Signature through the mud of the court.  I look forward to the adventure!!  Whenever your attorney feels like sending me the papers or having his process server drop by... they are welcome ... as always.  I do suggest... that you write me a check now for the $15,000+ you owe.  The amount later will be much higher... to the tune of $60,000+.

           Case style         Commercial Dispute

           Date Filed         10/22/09

           Court               160th District Court

           Plantiff             Signature Roofing LLC

           Defendant         Jeff Reynolds

           Attorney           Charles  H Portz  713-223-5299

           Case #              DC-09-14385

Signature Roofing has been trying to serve Jeff Reynolds since late October. Mr. Reynolds is clearly avoiding the server. We try to operate our business with integrity and on Christian principals. Our dispute with Mr. Reynolds has nothing to do with the quality of our service or the integrity of our personnel. We feel as though we did everything within our power to help Mr. Reynolds do the job that he was hired to do. We feel that there was never any effort on his part and that his lack of attention negated any contract that was signed. We hate that it has come to this, but the entire executive team at Signature Roofing feels that the 25,000.00 that was paid to Mr. Reynolds was extorted, and as I have said before, we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. We at Signature Roofing do not know Jeff Reynolds on a personal level and care only to have this situation handeled by a court of law. We have no desire to slander Mr. Reynolds. I hope this is will be our final reply on this website.

John Hopkins & Signature Roofing LLC -- Same ole Story... Lies And Deception At It's Finest....

AUTHOR: Nobleserf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 29, 2009

John Hopkins and his Signature Roofing LLC just can't seem to tell the truth about anything.   This is exactly why they are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau.  With an unacceptable rating of "C", Hopkins and Signature are not credible.  Too many others have had bad experiences with them.

I challenge John Hopkins to set forth:

The Case Styling:
The Case Number:
The Name Of The Court:
The Date Of Filing:
The Name Of The Attorney Representing Signature:

Oh well... enough is enough....

Hopkins still owes me more than $15,000 and won't pay.

All I can say is that until I get payment... I'm going to continue to make sure the world knows what kind of guy he is.

John Hopkins and Signature Roofing Are Nothing But Liars !!

AUTHOR: Nobleserf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 26, 2009

As previously stated, John Hopkins and Signature Roofing LLC based in McKinney, Tx are bogus.

John Hopkins lies.

John Hopkins will say anything to get your money, your time, your services.

John Hopkins owes me more than $15,000 and won't pay.

John Hopkins signed a definitive contract and won't pay.

John Hopkins promotes himself as a "christian" businessman... operating on "christian" values... but, that is not true as is evident by his false statements right here on RipOff Report.   If you check the court docket in Collin County Texas... there is no lawsuit filed by Signature Roofing or by Hopkins against Me.  If you check the court docket in Dallas County Texas... there is no lawsuit.

Hopkins is a liar.

The fact of the matter is this.  Hopkins wanted to raise $3,000,000 to pay off high interest debts and to provide additional working capital for his company.  I agreed to take the company public to raise that money.  As you can imagine... there is substantial paperwork that must be prepared to do this.  And, that includes the company providing due diligence materials including detailed financial reports and other information.  Signature Roofing and Hopkins ultimately refused and otherwise failed to provide the basic due diligence materials that were necessary to move forward.  And, rather than acting as a man... and as a proper businessman... he did not say he couldn't provide the materials or that there was a problem.  What he did... was to stop answering calls.  Stopped responding to emails.  Stopped paying the money owed under the contract.

John Hopkins is not a man... he's wimp without a spine.  He does not have the balls to sit at a table and say... "sorry, I don't have the money to pay the accountants to audit my financial statements"... or "sorry, I don't have the money to pay the IRS or State Of Texas the funds that we may owe"... or whatever else....  He acts like a child.  Refuses to deal with problems.

Well, this is a problem that won't just go away.

As I have previously said... it is my intention to file suit against Signature Roofing for the breach of contract.  It's a very simple matter.  And, I'll do that very soon.

Law Suit

AUTHOR: John Hopkins - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 26, 2009

Signature Roofing has been trying to serve Jeff with the law suit that we filed against him for two months. Please make yourself available Jeff, and lets let a court of law decide. Procrastination on your part is what got us here in the first place. Hiding and avoiding won't solve anything.

I Can't Help Myself... I'm Still Laughing !! Signature Can't Defend Themselves... The Evidence Is Overwhelming !!

AUTHOR: Nobleserf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

John Hopkins, the majority owner of Signature Roofing LLC cracks me up.

First off, the BBB reports and their poor rating in Dallas, McKinney, Fort Worth and elsewhere can't be ignored.  Notice that they are based in McKinney... and want you to look at a rating in Oklahoma City, OK.  That's funny.

There's a reason that Signature Roofing LLC got such low ratings.  Look at the number of complaints.  LMAO !!

As for a lawsuit... I would more than welcome it.  I have already drawn the original complaint... request for admissions, interrogatories and other pleadings and court papers.  I just haven't gotten around to filing them in the Court yet.  As for Signature bringing a suit... trust me when I say... I laughed my a*s off !!  Please !!  Please do it.  Save me a couple dollars and let me just beat your company into the ground.

As for the agreement, Signature had the obligation of preparing and providing substantial due diligence material... including financial statements, operating statements, evidence of assets, liabilities, bank accounts etc... and full disclosures as to biographical information of all key employees.  Despite having provided Signature several pages detailing the requested materials... Signature refused to provide the materials.  Signature just strung me along... all the while trying to milk me for information on how to take the company public without paying me.  As a consultant, hired to oversee the preparation of a public offering, it was not my job to prepare Signature's financial materials etc....  It was my job to take their information/materials, and to use that data to prepare the required filings for the government and brokers that would be involved.  It's kinda hard to do that when Signature refused to provide the subject and requisite materials.  So, as always... Signature has misrepresented the facts.  But... that's ok.  Maybe Hopkins is ignorant and just doesn't understand plain English or the written word.  That would explain a lot.

As for monies owed me... Signature owes more than $15,000 per the contract.  And, contrary to Hopkins representation... it wasn't a pay as you go thing.  The moment they signed the agreement, Signature was bound for the entire amount.  They were paying out the sum due as they didn't have the money to pay me the full amount at the beginning.  I should have known then that these guys were bogus.

Oh well.....

TALK ABOUT TURNING THE TABLES!

AUTHOR: John Hopkins - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

The name of the very angry and bitter person who wrote this slander is Jeff Reynolds. First and foremost let me just say that Signature Roofing has never installed, repaired or done any work for this man at all. This is a man who preys on unsuspecting businesses making bogus claims of being able to take them to a public level. Our agreement was to pay him $5,000 up front, and $3,500.00 a month for 12 months. Our agreement was based on his preformance along the way. His preformance along the way was non-existent. There was never even so much as 1 paper filed. There were no financials prepared, there were never even any phone calls until the montly check was coming due. Signature Roofing paid him for 6 months, bringing the grand total of this scam to $25,000.00. Signature Roofing repeatedly called meetings that Mr. Reynolds either did not show up for, or walked out on. After 6 months, our executive team made a unanimous decision to stop paying Mr. Reynolds and to contact our attorney to see what our legal recourse should be. We have filed a civil lawsuit against this individual and have been trying unsuccessfully to have him served for 2 months. Signature Roofing WILL prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. Mr. Reynolds was never able to substanciate his claims of taking other businesses public or even produce one single referral. The only fault I see with Signature Roofing is for trusting this man's word without substanciating his claims and for paying him for as long as we did. I was very dissappointed to find this blog. You would think taking $25,000.00 from our company would be enough for this guy, but clearly he is very angry that he is being sued. I personally have been in the roofing industry since 1990. Signture Roofing has been in business since 2000. Signature Roofing filed LLC paperwork in 2007 for tax reasons per our attorney's request. We have worked with the same crews for many years and offer one of the longest warranties in the business. We encourage anyone to check into our BBB record. Our BBB history resides in Okahoma City where we have an A+ rating. We also encourage anyone to check into our ratings and reviews with servicemagic.com where we have a 4.7 rating out of a possible 5, and 157 reviews. Our office is in Mckinney Tx. We are a christian owned and operated business. It is a shame that there are people in this world who would just assume take money from hard working folks than make an honest days wage on their own. My best advice here is to know who you are doing business with. LESSON LEARNED!!
