I hired this company to move my belongings from Florida to New York. The move was quoted at $3,500 for 6,00 lbs. and 15 days of storage.

I paid up front the 3500 dollars with a credit card. Later I was told I was over my estimated weight by more than 3,300 lbs. So they charged an additional 1600 to my credit card. I figured that it was possible. They sent me documentation on the before and after weight of the truck, but since there is no truck number or information that truly identifies the weight of the truck on the paper work it is useless.

When I was ready for delivery I called them, they said they would not have anybody available for the next 2 weeks, so I would have to wait till then to accept delivery. I was understandable since my entire move had been delayed by a month and my plans had changed. Again always giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The Saturday morning, when they are supposed to deliver my belongings I receive a call stating that $2,800 must be ready in form of cash, bank draft or money order at time of delivery and that I must confirm that I had it in order for them to even consider coming to New York to drop my stuff off. Their "reason" for the additional cost was that my move was no longer a "consolidated" move, and therefore I would have to pay all expenses regarding the move.

My question to them was, where the heck did all the other money (3500 + 1600) I gave you previously go?

I also had some of my belongings damaged during transit. I sent a claim letter to their claims department asking for renumeration. Forty five days later I get a reply with a redicoulos low amount.

I sent a reply as a certfied letter to the following address.

SIGNATURE VAN LINES
P.O. BOX 249
SCOTRUN, PA 18355

The letter eventually was returned to me because it was never picked up.

IN SHORT. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL SCAM YOU FOR MORE MONEY AFTER YOUR STUFF HAS BEEN PICKED UP.

Talk about leaving out important details!

So Juan hired you on June 2, 2004, huh? Did you tell him you weren't licensed yet? Check out this record, with all three revocations.

Signature Van Lines has only had a license for 7 months out of the 13 they've been in business! WOW!!! And somehow, you managed to become members of the BBB three months before you could legally perform moves. 7 complaints there in one year.

You've got 10 complaints on this site in that time period, and have been Blacklisted on other sites. And the only thing you can think of to say is that your customers are liars. Nice. Bet that'll hold up in court.

It is not impossible to get an idea of the actual prices, thousands of reputable movers do it every single day! It starts with quotes being given by your employees traveling to the customer's house and viewing everything to be moved, givng an accurate estimate based on weight, and backing it up with certified weight tickets from a roadside inspection station. Packing materials are laid out in advance. Tape is considered a "tool of the trade", and is included in the regular charges.

Juan, did you try this address? I'm sure it will get Carleen's attention.

Certified Letters in PO Boxes can be ignored, as you found out, but it's harder when the mailman brings it to your doorstep. I do find it amusing that Carleen claims to ahve never received that Certified Letter, when they had to sort it out from their mailbox to get to the other mail for 45 days.

Calling someone a liar does not help you.

AUTHOR: Juan - (U.S.A.)

Dear Carlene,

After all this time all I have to say is.

1. On the day you are going to have a delivery made, do not call your customer and demand additional money. It is rude and not business like. The proper thing to have done was to notify me a week in advance of the charges. Had I ever complained about money before that? The answer is No. Had I known I would have made arrangements. Looking on this website it seems that this is your sad standard business practice.

2. I did send you a certified letter to the address above and it was returned. I still have the letter in my file. The damages to my goods where considerable but nothing that I can live with out. Since then I decided not to pursue the matter any more because it was not worth my time.

3. Do not send your workers with out expense money. I had to tip them $$ so they could get a bite to eat.

4. Be punctual on your delivery. Noon is 12:00PM not 5:00PM

At this point this is water under the bridge and beneath me.

Your business practices will eventually catch up to you. If you say I am a liar then so be it, but my sense of right and wrong is very clear.

Regards,

Juan Roque western NY Is a liar and a ungreatful customer

AUTHOR: Carleen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 11, 2005

Juan Roque hired our services on 6/2/04, with the short notice that he gave us. He wanted to be picked up on June 16, 2004, he neglected to tell you that we were one day early because his plans changed at the last minute.

We answered his damage claim in a timely fashion, a claim can actually take up to 3 months to be expedited. We offered the standard mover's liability cash settlement. We never received a response until now so I guess he was not satisfied with the offer.

In his own words he mentioned that "I FIGURED IT WAS POSSIBLE" that his weight was more than we estimated over the phone. That is due to the fact that he was given proof of weight tickets that is USDOT mandated, which totaled approximately 9,940lbs. and he was charged for 9,009lbs. We also included 15 days of storage for his move and waived the warehouse handling fees because he profusely complained that he could not pay for any additional fees. He also stayed in storage for more than 2 months, notifying us a week before the demanded redelivery date he wanted, which we honored and he was given additional DISCOUNTS FOR.

He clearly understood that the final charges were based on the certified weight tickets and any additional services requested. On our Non- Binding estimate it clearly states that PACKING MATERIALS AND OTHER SERVICES REQUESTED ARE NOT INCLUDED. Juan Roque's MOVE WAS BASED ON A CONSOLIDATION WITH OTHER HOUSEHOLD GOODS BEING MOVED TO THE UPSTATE NEW YORK AREA WITHIN 15 DAYS OF HIS PICK UP. In "HIS OWN WORDS" HE MENTIONS "HE DELAYED THE SHIPMENT FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS." THEREFORE, WE HAD TO CHARGE HIM AN EXCLUSIVE MOVE.

CUSTOMERS LIKE JUAN ROQUE AND OTHERS WHO REPORT US TO YOUR WEB-SITE THINK IT IS BEST TO LEAVE OUT IMPORTANT DETAILS AND THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING ADDITIONAL. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A PRICE FROM A MOVER BASED ON A SCOPE OF ABC AND CHANGE IT TOO D-Z WITHOUT ADDITIONAL COSTS EXTRA. The best example of this is MCDONALD's you order a big mac then you add extra cheese, there is always an additional cost for everything. And maybe instead of trying to hide additional items or services one should be honest about what they really want. IT'S JUST NOT FAIR TO EITHER PARTY.

In reference to TERRENCE SHENFIELD WE WILL SEE HIM IN COURT ONCE WE RECEIVE HIS COURT ORDER,TO DATE WE HAVE NOT. I believe the JUDGE WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED IN THE SIGNED ORDER FOR SERVICE AND THE ADDENDUM AUTHORIZING US TO CHARGE HIM ACCORDINGLY. HIS SERVICES CHANGED EXTREMELY ON THE DAY OF THE MOVE,RANGING FROM FURNITURE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LEFT FOR THE NEW OWNERS-TO SCHEDULING THE NEW OWNERS TO MOVE IN ON THE SAME DAY-AND A CLEANING COMPANY. FOR A MOVE THAT WAS ESTIMATED TO TAKE 9.5 HOURS.

LESS MEN AND TRUCKS WERE SENT BECAUSE HE NOTIFIED US THAT THE MOVE SHOULD TAKE LESS TIME,BECAUSE HE SOLD A LOT OF STUFF. HIS HOURLY RATE WAS ALSO LOWERED AND HE SIGNED AND AGREED TO IT. HE ACTUALLY ADDED 150% MORE TO HIS ORIGINAL ESTIMATE, BECAUSE THE NEW HOME OWNERS ADMITTED AT THE LAST MINUTE TO MY DRIVER IN THEIR OWN WORDS "I DO NOT WANT ANY OF THEIR JUNK BECAUSE IT IS FULL OF FILTH."

WE ALSO EXTENDED 30-DAYS OF FREE STORAGE. BUT AGAIN,I GUESS WE WILL SEE HIM IN COURT.
