Silkies Pantyhose aka HCI DirectSilkies Pantyhose aka HCI Direct INC consumer ripoff Lancaster Pennsylvania

I had been a member of the Silkies Club about a year ago. The pantyhose would fall apart after the first wash. I could never find a bill with the shipment and never knew what I owed until I got a delinquent notice. I cancelled my membership. I began receiving telemarketing calls from them asking why I cancelled. I explained that their product was no good.

About four months ago, I received another phone call asking if I would regjoin the club. I told them no, I was not interested and leave me alone. In October of 2002, I received a bag that said free trouser socks, will you rejoin. I threw the bag in a drawer and did not bother to open it. In November of 2002, I received another bag that said here are your free trouser socks. I opened the bag up and saw 3 pairs of pantyhose (not in a color nor size that I wear) and a pair of trouser socks. There was also a bill attached saying I owed $13.68. I thne opened the October bag and found a bill for $13.68.

I am not a petty complainer. I cancelled my original membership in writing to them. I have throw our their little letters beggin me to rejoin. I find it interesting that I have started receiving products to them after I told them on the phone that I was not interested.

The other day I was helping a student in a consumer law course and found the Uniform Consumer Code. It states that if you receive unsolicited merchandise in the mail and have not reequested it you can keep it without being liable for payment. I did not ask them to solicit me with their products. In fact, I repeatedly told them I was not interested. I don't feel I should have to pay for return postage to send back the hose.

However, I know I have a protracted argument with these people. If a telemarketer calls, hang-up or if you have caller id don't even answer it.
