I received a coupon in the mail this past summer for a free pair of pantyhose. I threw it in the garbage but then decided to mail it in to the company that sent it to me with my size specifications because "what the heck" they are FREE!

A few months went by and I received a package in the mail with 4 pairs of pantyhose in it!

Wow--I rarely wear pantyhose and thought "Gee--4 FREE pair instead of one---how neat" and then I tossed the packages, unopened, in my clothes drawer.

About a month or so went by and yesterday I received a bill for $13.98 for the pantyhose with the claim that the money was PAST DUE.

I was very disturbed by this as well as shocked! So, I scrutinized the contents of the envelope with the bill for any type of contact information for this SILKIES SCAM.

No phone number was listed and the address for correspondence was a P.O. Box. How convenient for them! This angered me and so I went online to search for information about the SILKIES company.

I found quite a few postings from women who went through the same situation as I did with these SILKIES pantyhose. The pantyhose the company sends to the recipient (you and I) are not authorized by the receivers yet they basicallytry to scare you or force you to pay for them.

I sensed the fraud immediately and was very concerned about the apparent deceitfulness as they used the USPS to do their dirty work. I probed further and found some interesting information about how the company is in violation of laws set up by the Postal Service.

I also probed further for telephone or other contact information for the company sending out the SILKIES pantyhose and could find nothing.

So, I reviewed the documents in the envelope that was sent along with the bill and I found on one of the papers a small box with some information typed in it and in tiny, tiny letters a company called BCI, Inc.or BHI, Inc.

As I am typing this report right now without the info in front of me, I would suggest that you, as the reader, double check that name in your envelopes to be certain it is BCI, Inc.

since I am doing this from memory at the moment. With that info, I was able to find a phone number online and called it immediately. Bingo! It was indeed the company that sent the pantyhose to me without my authorization.

After a heated conversation with the supervisor, she made good on the situation and told me to keep the pantyhose and the $13.98 bill would be discarded.

She tried to tell me that when you get your FREE pantyhose that you must cancel out right away if you don't want any future pantyhose that the company insists on sending you even without your permission.

I never received such a notice and if I did, I explained that my definition of FREE is simply that.....no strings attached....and it appears that her company's definition of FREE has obligatory strings attached to it....seems like a subtle, but obvious SCAM to me! I suggested that she reexamine the company's marketing strategy as apparently many people are falling prey to this SILKIES pantyhose SCAM nonsense and are receiving past due notice bills for items they never authorized. It is scaring people.

I would have posted the company's phone number within this report, but, as I stated earlier, I am typing this at work and don't have the proper info at the moment. When you do find the abbreviated name of the company within the envelope with the bill they send you, do a search online for the phone number and call it to let them know how you feel about being potentially ripped off.

It will save you from getting a stained credit report and/or receiving more unwanted pantyhose and past due notices and bills. It will also save you from being SCAMMED!
Good luck!
