Let me start off by saying at first I was happy with Silvertag.com. I won several auctions and received my prizes without any problems, I was a subscribed member for over a year and a half.
My first problem I encountered with them was with an ipod mini one day auction I had won. I won and received 2 previous auctions for them and wanted to get one more for my other child. After the auction had finished I saw I had the lowest unique bid, but was not listed as the winner. So I checked the ToS and it then stated you could only win one auction per month. This wasn't there a few days earlier and I think the reasoning behind it was because another member won 2 nice items within two days time. This wasn't anything major for me, I thought maybe I had missed a ToS update so I didn't think anything of it.
My last incident was with an Xbox 360 I had won, this was a month long auction. I started my bidding on it as usual and about half way through the auction my subscription was terminated, I was paying $9.99 for 100 bids per day. So I go to reactivate my subscription and now they want $14.99 for 50 bids, I thought this is a rip-off since I'm paying 50% more for 50% less bids. I activated my subscription because I was pretty good at guessing the going costs of the auctions. I ended up winning the auction, so I sent my required information: Written testimonial, Verbal testimonial and my winning bid fee. I received an email on Nov 9, 2008 from them stating my Xbox 360 should be received between Nov 17 and Dec 3 of 2008, it never came.
I sent an email and asked if they could check the status on it on Dec 9, 2008 and received a reply the next day stating nothing has been confirmed on the shipping status and they would check their shipping department and give me an update asap.
That was the last time I ever heard from them, even after sending several emails asking for a reason why it wasn't shipped. I checked there ToS and now it states you must be a member for 30 days AFTER winning an auction. I am still a member, but just not a subscriber to their service. It also states in their ToS that if in fact an auction winner is for some reason disqualified from a winning auction, the person with the next unique lowest bid will be awarded the winner. Well as of this date I am still listed as the auction winner, so I guess nobody wins here but Silvertag.com. They don't award the prize and they also got my money for which I won the auction for.
To sum it up: DON'T fall for this online auction! You will lose in the end!
