I met Richard Mark on Singleparent.com. We exchanged email addresses and began chatting on Yahoo messenger. He told me he was currently in Lagos West Africa doing an exhibition of his art works with his daughter Jessica, 8 yrs old.

In our conversations over the following 3-4 weeks, he described his life as follows. He had lived his first 15 years in Greece then moved to New York, went to school at San Diego State U. then back to New York and then to Lake Forest, Ill after the divorce and ultimately death of his ex-wife. He said that he and his daughter had been alone for as long as he could remember. His father had died 7 years prior, his mother had moved to Greece. He has no siblings, or extended family and no friends.

He sent me many pictures of himself and very kind emails on almost a daily basis. He said the nicest things and was very quick to start using pet names like "sweetie" and "Honey". We chatted occasionally on the messenger, not often. I thought it was the time difference.

After two weeks he said he'd be coming home that weekend. That was delayed because he said his meeting was delayed until the following Monday. Over the weekend he told me about the amusement park he'd taken his daughter to on Saturday. The internet connection kept cutting out on his end and the phone had too much static when he tried to call. I didn't hear from him then until Tuesday when he emailed to tell me his daughter was in the hospital with Typhoid Fever.

He continued that week to send an email every morning when he would come back from the hospital to get things for the day and clean up. He'd update me on Jess's progress and make promises that we would be together soon. He is a smooth talker and very good looking.

The final email that he sent was on the next Saturday after his daughter had been in the hospital for a week. He said his business dealings had been failures, he had hospital and hotel expenses he couldn't afford. His mother had sent him $1200 but was unable to send more and was unreachable until the following month. He requested $635.00 from me to send immediately so that he could get his daughter released from the hospital and come home. "So we could all be together".  That we could "settle up" when he returned home.

Luckily I had the where with all not to fall for his scam and did not send him money. After researching a little bit I see that there are other women who have fallen victim to his scam. Women beware....no man you have never met loves you that much that you should send him money!!!!
