I purchased Sirius Satellite Radio from
Best Buy for my son for Christmas this year. Ever since he had it activated, which was January 3, 2007, he has been having nothing but problems. First, he was suppose to be charged $12.99 a month out of his account, yet, they took the whole $159.45 yearly fee out of his bank account and caused lots of problems. They caused my sons account to go over and then they charged him bank fees for going over in his account. Not only did they take one incorrect amount out, they took another amount and then caused his account to again go over.

The bank then put a freeze on his card, and bank account, since he was in the negative. As soon as my son found this out, which he went to take money out of his account and noticed it was negative, he called customer service for Sirius. They were absolutely no help at all. They kept telling him that they did not have a record with his card on it, which they had to in order to put two charges on it, and that they could possibly refund him the $159.45 but not the bank fees.

That's when I decided to get on the phone. I talked to one gentlemen that day and got absolutely no where, then I talked to the Manager, "supposebably", and then he told me that they were having problems putting any monies on the card that we kept giving them. The problem was, the card was frozen because of the overdraft. I then suggested to have them put the money directly in their account through the routing numbe and bank number, which Sirius told us we had to go to the bank and get a statement, not one off the computer, and then fax it over to their corporate office.

He said that we would hear from someone within 24 hours after they received the fax, which NEVER HAPPENED. My son took his lunch time to go to the bank and get a statement directly from the bank, then I typed up a cover letter and then faxed it over to the number they gave me.

First, the number was incorrect so I had to go on-line and get it, then, they NEVER EVER CALLED
BACK AT ALL. WE proceeded to call them again three days after the fax was sent. Still, they would not give us the corporate office, but they kept putting us through to the horrible customer service people that they have working for them. They could barely speak English and were very rude to deal with.

Again, they were of no help. They kept saying that corporate should have contacted us and that there was nothing they could do. I ask for the Manager again and they said there wasn't a Manager there at this time. What a lie?? Here it is January 27, 2007 and my son and I were back on the phone again.

At this point, I am ready to hire a lawyer to go after the money they owe my son, the bank fees, and all the agravation that this company was putting my son through. We are still fighting on getting this issue resolved as of today, which it is January 29, 2007, and it seems like it's going to be another long drawn out situation. If I do not get this resolved soon, a LAWYER will be their next call.

Besides the money problems, their station is horrible, it is always searching for a signal. I'm warning as many people as I can, do not purchase Sirius Radio, Howard Stern might be good but he's not worth getting ripped off.

i want to start this response to this claim by saying that the mistake in question should never have happened. how a person goes from a monthly svc account to having an annual subscription, is obserd, to say the very least, and should have been something that was agreed upon by the person activating the radio (which there will be a call record of the said call) anyway, if it was in error, we would refund the money.

BUT in this case, his card was frozen, and therefore we couldn't refund the money. in this situation, your only route is to dispute the charge unfortunately. as for placing it on bank accounts, we can't add a bank account number onto an account as all it will except is a credit card or debit card with a visa or master logo. so the only other suggestion would have been to place the refund onto another credit card.

Here is how to get your son's $$ back

If you talk to Sirius you will get nowhere. You will sit on hold for 30-45 min only to have some incompetent CSR give you the run around.

Call your bank and tell them the charge was unauthorized. The bank will put a temporary credit to the accound while it is investigated.

Make sure you give your bank all the details, dates, names, etc. And if you have any documentation ( the account printouts from the Sirius website are fine) offer to fax that to the bank too.

Sirius will won't have a leg to stand on and it should be cleared up for you. Let the bank fight your battle, that's what we pay them for and they have a lot more pull than you or I.

good luck!
