This group of attorneys care about one thing... their fees!! When I went there in Feb 2008 for help with Chapter 13 bankruptcy Adam Freiman met with us and said we would have to pay back about 15% of our debt. He said that number could go up a little and it would happen over 5 years. He wanted $2500 before they would even file (they were to get another $2000 over the 5 years). I paid the $2500 over the next several months and my case was filed April 2008. The Trustee fought tooth and nail to have every extra penny. I had to stop my 401K and any savings accounts. They disallowed many of our expenses (like anything to do with my stepdaughter who spends 6months/year with us) and by the time they were done with us, we went from having to pay $350/month for 5 years to $1100/month for 5 years. Talk about setting people up for failure!!! We went from paying back 15% to 60%. I later found out it could be as much as 100% of your debt (why would you ever file bacnkruptcy if you could afford to pay it all back in the 1st place??!!) Before my case was even confirmed, I told them there was no way I could do this plan and our case was dismissed.

I had already paid about $1800 to the Trustee but we got a letter from the court saying that was to be returned since the case was dismissed. I just talked to the attorney's office and they said they are keeping all of that money for their fees!! They said I signed papers saying that bankruptcy costs $4500 (even though I didn't even go through with it). So basically, I have no recourse and I am out $4300 and about 9 months of time. I called to tell them how misleading they were and if they had been honest up front I would have thought twice about filing (of course they would never do that because they would not make any money!!).

Be very careful with these lawyers and do lots of research before giving out any money. They will suck up whatever fees they can. Nice!! This is the whole reason I went to attorney's in the 1st place. For them to help me through the maze of bankruptcy law. They did not do their job!!!
