I went to work for Sisbro, Inc. in July 2007. The 3 main reasons I chose them was, they garunteed home every weekend for 48hrs, free health insurance and $1000 sign on bonus.
When you arrive for orientation, they put you in a run down so called hotel. Then you find out that your insurance is only free if your spouse does not have coverage that you are eligeable for. Then you are told that if you don't complete 3 full mos. of employment, you are responsible for re-paying all the expenses for orientation. Including the pay and sign on bonus.
Now you get your truck. These trucks are the biggest peices of junk on the road! Now I know why they are near the top of the list for DOT inspections and violations. If you are driving one of these trucks you have a 95% chance of being Pulled in at every scale. The chances are even greater of them finding a violation.
When you actually start driving, You find out right away that you might as well throw your log book out the window. For instance, they would dispatch me to p/u a load in Lima, OH for 2p.m. on Sunday and was to be in Nebraska by 7a.m. Monday. The dispatch info shows the trip being just under 700mi. They don't include the 127mi. from my house to p/u the load. You cant arrive early to p/u your load because they usually are not ready untill the specified p/u time.
You will never be home for the weekend and never for 48hrs. You can choose the day you want to be home and when you want to leave out during orientation. I chose to be home friday night or saturday morning and leave out sunday night or Monday morning. Every Friday I would either be delivering a load In Iowa, Indiana or at the yard in Quincy. If I was in Indiana or Iowa, They would 95% of the time bring me back to the yard or send me to Beardstown to p/u a load. By the time I get the load, I would be out of hours. I would'nt get home untill Saturday night and the load I had would deliver some time Sunday, or early Monday morning.
I drove for about 2.5 mos. with out any complaining. Never late on a load, never turned down a load. I even found out I was making .01 cpm less than I was quoted on the phone by the recruiter.
I got real sick and was in and out of the hospital. I called sisbro and told them what was going on and I also sent a message on the MACRO. I told them I wasnt sure when I would be able to return, but, I was unable to drive. Even though in orientation you are required to fill out a form with a exact location of where the truck will be parked while at home, I gave them that info again on the phone and on the Macro. I was paying $80 a month for a stoage facility to park the truck while home. I even gave them the PIN for the gate where the truck was parked.
After 2 wks they decided that I quit and that I abandoned the truck. They tried to make me re-pay all the money and finally turned it into a collection company. I was able to get out of paying the money, but I am still fighting to get the truck abandonment removed from my DAC.
I just chalk this up to a leson learned. Now I allways tell the recruiters to send me everything in writting with a signature. This way the company cant change anything when you show up for orientation.
For any drivers out there checking into Sisbro or Sharkey, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! THEY DO NOTHING BUT LIE, LIE, LIE AND ONCE THEY SUCK YOU IN YOU ARE SCREWED!!!!
