Back in december we were conned into using site sell by a lady who we were paying to do a website for our company. Little did we know that even though she had collect a payment from us for the web site, that she was collecting a payments from sitesell and their "5 Pillar Affiliate Program". That was her main interst as it transpired. Like lemmings headed to the sea, we contracted for 3 sites abefore we realized the enormity of our mistake. What stared as an issue with emails and the use of white pages turned into a nightmare. There is no support for sitesell, you email them and wait several hours (if you are lucky) for a response which does not help. As it turned out we never got the email isue resolved and sitesell thinks that one email is adequate for a company. Mind you, you can have lots of email addresses but they all have to go to the same place....??? excuse me!
We had been with godaddy and were happy with the hosting service so after knashing our teeth for a week we asked for a refund. Then, we found we needed to pay $100 for our web site on a zip file ....do not do that as it is unusable information unless you are with sitesell. We have spent $700 redoing the site which is happily up and running with Gxxxxy. (((REDACTED))) and as for the refund.....6 weeks and still no refund. Lots of emails but no money.
SCAM!!!

Lots of Complaints About Sitesell Service and the Contractor Was Not Honest

To the original poster:
Your Contractor Was Not Honest
I agree that Sitesell can't be held responsible for the actions of an independent contractor, but I disagree that that contractor had no obligation to inform you about such an important potential conflict of interest. She should have disclosed her relationship with Sitesell prior to recommending its services.
Hosting Companies Should Have Phone Numbers
I also think that web hosts should have customer service phone numbers in addition to e-mail addresses; the major ones all do.
Service
I was a Sitesell customer and it took customer service 5-days to answer my first e-mail and that was only after I e-mailed the "if you haven't heard from us click here" emergency address. The person who answered the e-mail, and eventually ensured someone got back to me, made no apologies about the original 5-day wait, which I mentioned in my e-mail.
This situation was critical as the tech problem in question meant I couldn't access my Sitesell site at all. Sitesell has its upsides. Ken Evoy's various and sundry manuals provide a good intro to affiliate marketing, among other things. But one of many reasons I left Sitesell was the terrible customer service I encountered frequently whereby the reps. were incompetent, impatient, and rude. In most cases, it was obvious they hadn't bothered to read my e-mails prior to responding to them.
Complaints about Sitesell's customer service are all over the web. Sitesell appears to prefer pretending it has no customer service issues as opposed to fixing the problem.
There's not much you can do about that, unfortunately.

Perhaps This Clarification will Help

Hi Thersia,
Denise from SiteSell Answers here. I can see you were frustrated by this situation.
It sounds like the person who was helping you build a website was an independent contractor who was acting as an affiliate and webmaster for you. There is no conflict of interest in doing that, as the person merely acts as an agent to help you gain the benefit of using the Site Build It! platform for your online business without you having to go through the learning curve. It is a valid, valuable service and there is nothing wrong with that person being compensated accordingly.
SiteSell offers its own web mastering program that is backed officially by SiteSell and its guarantee. However, SiteSell cannot be held responsible for what people do in an unofficial, third party capacity.
SiteSell does have different email addresses for different departments, so I'm not sure what you mean there. In response to your concern that Support only has one email: No matter the name of the company, and no matter where they are located, this is a very common setup. What occurs is the emails go to a central location, then each support request becomes a "ticket" that is assigned, then dispatched to an individual who works on your ticket.
Having been with the company as an employee and before that, as a customer for many years, I have never had a support ticket go unanswered or ignored. There is only one of a few ways this could happen. You supplied the wrong email address when you submitted your ticket or your own email filtered the response as spam.
In regards to the refunds as per our guarantee, which is honored without question – did you actually make sure your refund request got through and did you get an acknowledgement in your email for that? If not, I urge you to debug this by checking your spam filter and retrieving the emails there. If they don't exist, you can resubmit and carefully check the address to ensure it is spelled correctly. It is a time sensitive matter, so it's imperative you do this as soon as possible.
In regards to being charged for getting your sites on a zip file, that is between you and your webmaster and not a SiteSell issue.
Once again, I regret your unfortunate experience but with you much success with your sites in the future. May your ventures be prosperous!
Sincerely,
Denise Taylor
