I just had my daughter's birthday party there and am very disappointed with the PRICING and lack of host service.  Please read  this especially if you're interested in hosting a party.  I knew it was going to be expensive which was fine if we got what we paid for.    It's normally $15 to jump but since we had a "party table" and "host" it became $25 PER person!

I told the company if the parents asked and were interested in jumping that it was ok and we'd pay for it (that was a mistake)!! Unfortunately, I felt the people at Skyzone took advantage of my offer.  Every parent was approached when they arrived at check- in to see if they wanted socks (which meant an additional jump price for us).

Since my daughter is young and her friends are young, the parents wanted to supervise their kids..some thought they needed to have the socks even if they weren't really interested in jumping.  IN the end we paid for 35 guests to jump--10 in party package and 25 additional!  I KNOW that at least 6 of the guests didn't even jump on the trampolines ($150).

I asked the manager for a refund but she sneakily just refunded me for the socks.  I had a lot going on trying to close out the party in a timely manner so I wouldn't be CHARGED EXTRA MINUTES and didn't realize that the jumps never got refunded until I got home.  My husband went back down and they offered 6 passes but we wanted a refund.

The host was not that organized either! We needed an extra set of hands for our party size. I paid for extra food ..kids were thirsty and hungry and some people just ended up getting stuff on their own.  Again, part of the sales pitch was that they would take care of everything..that's why it was more expensive than the regular admission price per head.  In the end we paid close to $1300 for a kid's birthday party: 7 pizzas, a vegetable platter, a sandwich platter, 35 jumps, socks, and party favors.

You can't even keep your numbers straight...

Then as number of jumps checked in it would automatically upgrade to a package of 20 jumps.  I had emailed Skyzone a list of 22 kids who were jumping with waviers completed.  It was a total of 50 people.

- That is NOT what you originally stated.  You originally stated you had 10 in the party with 25 additional for a TOTAL of 35..remember that?  You should as those were YOUR words.  Now all of the sudden it is a party of 22 and a total of 50 people?

This is important for ONE reason.  I took a look at the Party Packages and a package of 10 people costs...drum roll please....$295.  This is EXACTLY what you were charged.   Also, an amazing thing happened as I added people..the cost increased.

You were charged exactly $0.00 for 35 one hour jumps, this most likely is just a way of identifying the total number of jumpers.  You were charged for exactly 28 pairs of socks(or 6 more than you had on the "list").  You were charged for an additional 25 jumps...bringing the total to..shocker...35.  So based on your own REVISED number with 22 "approved" jumpers...it appears that you had an additional 13 jumpers or $325. So if anything you have a complaint between a $1000 birthday party and a $1300 birthday Party. And no where near this new number of 50 you are coming up with.

Don't beleive me...Look at the invoice YOU posted.

Again, this really just needs to be a learning experience for you, as I have been through all of the parties..yes Mini-Golf, Bowling, Ice Skating, and Pizza Places.  This seems like you failed to look at the "big picture" and realize the costs involved.   In addition to the other suggestions, I have one more.  If you want to do this in the future, what you should do is be the "go between" of the staff and the parent you want to "add".  YOU ask the parent if they want to have their other kid jump and if so YOU go to the management and add them on personally.   This way you are the "Gate Keeper" and the one in control...Oh and it doesn't take away from spending time with everyone at the party.

So just a few other comments.

At that point I thought it was tacky to put a parent on the spot to pay $25 for a second child.

- Actually it is more tacky for a parent of an invited kid to bring another kid trying to "guilt" you into paying for them as well.  Your invitation stated a kids name..right?  It didn't say a kids name...AND FAMILY now did it?  Of course if it did well...that was probably your first mistake.

Think of it this way.  You have a movie ticket that says "admit one".  Does the movie theater consider it "tacky" if you showed up with another person where they offer to pay to get them in as well?

We had 1 short tempered host who snapped at my adult friends and kids.

- Well yea..if you had a scheduled party of 10 and an additional 25 people(how ever it happened) showed up I think anyone would be a bit stressed out.  So you may be right..and they may be right.  For 10 people you get one host..which is what you originally reserved..but for 22 people you may get two, but that is not what you reserved.

Also, we weren't a party with 10 kids.  That's what package skyzone suggested we start at.  Then as number of jumps checked in it would automatically upgrade to a package of 20 jumps.  I had emailed Skyzone a list of 22 kids who were jumping with waviers completed.  It was a total of 50 people.  Skyzones check in-out was comibined into one location full of people trying to get form's filled and socks to jump.  It was a mad house.

I DID not receive what I paid for.  Skyzone's sales pitch is "we will take care of everything".  That is why you pay $25 per person to enjoy their party room and outstanding service.  My husband and I wanted to enjoy time with our friends and kids.  My complaint is to make parents aware.  Steve who handled our parties checkin told me "not to worry, I won't let any of your guest who have multiple children not on the list in with out paying".  At that point I thought it was tacky to put a parent on the spot to pay $25 for a second child.  I was very clear to him not to offer but if someone in our party who wasn't on list ask to jump we would pay.  During 60 minutes I noticed everyone of my friends had socks.  Not on, in their purse or pocket.  They were offered  socks and I confirmed they did not ask.  My offer was takin advantage of by skyzone.  Our party size required 2 host, which manager Susie confirmed.  We had 1 short tempered host who snapped at my adult friends and kids.  It was my mistake by not reading more reviews about skyzone before booking party.  I agree, it's a kids party you shouldn't expect much in quality of food, service ect.  But when paying as much as I did I expect more.  At end I was rushed to sign out since our 40 minutes was up and I was going to be charged over by minutes.  My friends and I couldn't leave, host had no idea where our shoes went.  Also I wanted each child to get a $5 prepaid gift card to use at akyzones candy shop below.  I preordered them, confirmed it when I checked in and also reminded host when we first went upstairs.  Half my party didn't recieve them.  Host took 10 of our 40 minutes trying to count kids and get them from front desk.

I was upset at end of the day and wanted to talk to a manager.  I called serveral times leaving messages and emails.  Skyzone has yet to return a email or a phone call.  I'm a rational person and wanted to discuss not argue and hopefully leave feeling better about my daughters party.  I'm not looking for a freebie just think skyzone should give the customer what they pay for.  The simple fact that they can't be bothered to call me back shows me they don't value costomers.  After reading reviews on yelp I found that I wasn't the only one who left feeling taking advantage of.  Also that skyzone dosent return calls and ignores complaints.

You were taken advantage of..but not by Skyzone

Based on what you wrote, Skyzone did not take advantage of you.  This looks like a combination of your underplanning, lack of experience, and the other families all combining into this.

First, just to put in the number of attendees as this is very important.  You had 10 kids and 25 adults...that is an average of 2.5 adults per one child.

Since my daughter is young and her friends are young, the parents wanted to supervise their kids.

- Okay, you can not on one hand figure that the parents would want to "supervise" their kids, let Skyzone know that you will pay for anyone who wants to jump.  But then when the parents decide to jump..get upset at the cost.   Oh and as for the "well I only wanted to pay for the ones who mentioned it first".  It would have been mentioned and once one person did it..everyone would have anyways.

For future thoughts..this is what you should have done.  In your invitations put up front and make very clear what you were paying for.  Since you knew they would want to supervise.  You could have said something like you are paying for the child and ONE chaperone to jump, any other people would be at their own expense.   If you don't do this you will get in the situation you are..where the parents will take full advantage of the situation.

I KNOW that at least 6 of the guests didn't even jump on the trampolines.

- Okay...even IF your at least 6 became 10.  That is still 15 people who did jump...for 10 kids.  Meaning you had more than one "supervisor" per kid.  However, if anything is a complaint this could be a vaild one.  But the "I was in such a rush" excuse really doesn't work.  It would take 30 seconds to look at the paperwork and realize it was wrong and get it corrected after the event, but before you left.

The host was not that organized either! We needed an extra set of hands for our party size.

- This was a birthday party for your child right?  You had 10 children and 25 adults.  So not a single adult was there to help you out?

I paid for extra food .. kids were thirsty and hungry and some people just ended up getting stuff on their own.

- More on the food in a minute. But once again...where were these other adults?  You mean that you couldn't have stepped away for a minute to go talk to the manager about the slowness?  Could not one of these other 25 adults hung around the party room why you did this?

I won't go into their service because I don't know exactly what service you got compared to what you were expecting.  But based on your continual use of how they handle "everything", it sounds like your expectations are not reality.  After all did you expect them to slice the pizzas and serve each kid and adult?    "Everything" generally involves setup, cleanup, and preparing the food...which it sounds like they did.

Now as to your food bill.  For food you bought 7 pizzas and a sandwich platter.   Again this was a kids party..right?  Since when have you known a 3 year old kid to eat more than a slice or two of pizza?   You bought the equivalent of a sandwich AND a whole pizza per kid.  But you say that you were paying for everyone that came.   Okay we are now back to the same thing, you say you want to pay for everyone..yet when it comes time to do that you complain that you paid too much when you basically had more people than you budgeted for.

So if anything hope you take this as a lesson in kid's party planning.   Always define what you are paying for especially when you are going to a location that costs additional money(Golf, Bowling, Ice Skating..etc).  Always get RSVP's of kids AND adults.
