I heard about Sling TV's cordcutting service back in 2015. They were offering a 7 day trial at that time. I went ahead to try the service. As with other subscription based trial services, I had to put in my credit card details to start the trial. I did not like the service so I cancelled it within 2 days. This was in May 2015.
Now, in February 2016, I see a charge of $21.59 on the same credit card that I used earlier from Sling TV, LLC. So I went ahead and contacted Sling about this charge. They say that I had restarted the service. However, I never did that. Even their system says that I had last logged into their system back in May 2015. I asked them to refund the amount saying that it must be an error in your system as I never logged in ever since May 2015.
Even after repeated complaints, they haven't reversed or refunded the charge to my credit card. They say they cannot refund the charge and it is a case of fraud and I should report my credit card company. The charge is still pending after 5 days. Credit Card company says that they cannot dispute the charge till it is posted into my account. I will be disputing this charge as soon as this is posted in my account.
However, my concern here is that how is this a fraud by someone else, if the statement clearly states that it is a charge by SLING TV, LLC, Englewood CO. Sling TV says that I must have reactivated the service. I asked them if that is the case then provide me with the details of the device on which I have used their service as their website says that I last logged in on May 2015.
This is a case of complete rip-off by a company by charging inactive users. I believe this was either a system error on SLING TV's part or intentional. There might be others like me as well. If we can collect all the other victim this might be a class action lawsuit.
I have all the details of the account/fraud with me in case any lawyer wants to take them to court.
