I had worked with Dave Thorn of Small Traditions LLC. In Denver, Co. in the past when I gave him $38,000 dollars worth of cards to sell. We completed a deal which took almost two months for me to receive all the funds I was owed.
I had to constantly call and ask what was going on and felt like I wAs getting the run around. Everytime I asked for some money I was met with 15 reasons why he couldn't pay me. It was a very frustrating process for me because I never expected to have to wait so long to receive the funds.
I honestly never planned to use his site again but after persistent emails and phone calls I gave in and let him sell A Michael Jordan PSA 9 rookie which is going for $2700-$3385 range on eBay. I sent him the card on the 22nd of August and the card sold for a substandard $2246 which I'm clearly not happy about.
On the 15th of September I called Dave and left a message which got no response. On the 16th of September I called again and got no response, but left a message asking for him to please call me back. I called the office number and no answer. On the 17th I called in the morning and afternoon asking for a callback. I called the office number twice with no response. Finally Dave emailed me
Back on the 17th almost a month after the card got sent in and sent me an email saying how he detests when people call his cell phone to get paid. Sounds like it happens a lot......
I told him I don't like not getting responded to for three days and he told me sorry I am in the middle of putting together a half million dollar auction. So he cut off communication and than belittled me
Bc he was doing a half million dollar auction all Bc I called asking what was going on with the money.
Well after getting an email from Dave Thorn in eBay. He was asking me to send him a private email and than recruit me to sell my items on his site. This way I could save 15% in eBay fees. I was a little skeptical Bc it was clearly unethical what he was doing. once someone does one shiesty move they usually have a few more up thier sleeves. He clearly has many more but here is what I know.
1. Stole most clients and customers
from ebay after he saw them selling high end items. He sent them an email telling them to
email him privately.
2. Tells sellers of big cards to shill bid driving up the prices.
3.hes nice In the beggining but after he gets your card he ducks and dodges your call .
Needless to say it is Sept. 18th and Dave has written me an email and said he will not be paying me the money he owes me, $2246. It's not really a surprise for a guy who steals his customers off eBay and whom told
Me to shill bid my auctions in January "the more it sells , the more we both make".
Sellers beware : 1. he gets your items and takes forever to pay.
2. Avoids your calls and doesn't give you any info
3. Terrible customer service
4. Refuses to pay me for auction
5. Acts real nice in the beggining , when he is getting you to consign your item than becomes impossible to deal with.
I have filed with the Denver BBB and eBay has been notified of his actions. Ripoff report and consumer complaint are next and the list goes on.
Dave Thorn took my jordan psa 9 and illegally kept the proceeds. He is a thief and a liar!!
Avoid this sneaky business , don't fall victim to this scam like I did! Now he's sending me emails saying he is gonna use my money to
Sue me but everything I've stated in here is 100% true!

dave Thorn of small traditions is one of the most upstanding people in the business is the funniest comment I've heard yet!
Sounds like Dave. Thorn to me
I am a whistleblower on his little scam. if he wasn't guilty of anything he would have hired an attorney and handled it that way but he doesn't have a leg to stand on.i have a receipt of sale for a Wayne Gretzky BGS 9 Rookie that he charged me 15% But never sold it and sent it back to me. Soon after I sold the same card through paypal and have all receipts.
if you are coming on here and gonna "vouch" for dave thorn please state your name and who you are!
I stand and by everything I said 100%
dave thorn runs a scam site where he allows schill bidding.
He steals clients through ebay
he is a liar who claims a lot of bs but never really answers the real facts.
I plan on obtaining a lawyer and seeing you in a court of law! So remember anything said on here will be used in court!

I am going to say this, I was just looking Dave's address up to send him a check.
I have been working with Small Traditions for over three years. Dave Thorn is one of the most reputable guys in the business. I personally have consigned items for auction and bought well into the six figures worth of Derek Jeter items from him.
I also had some probelms on my end ( health and other issues) and Dave worked with me on them it took me awhile to pay a invoice. He is a great person and I will alway recommend him.

This entire complaint by Danny Christopher is a total fabrication malciously intended to destroy the reputation of Small Traditions LLC. The complainer states here that he called us b/w Sept 16-18, and yet here is a link to a similar complaint he made at complaints.com on the 19th: http://www.complaints.com/2014-09-19/online-scams/small-traditions-llc/denver-co-80218-us/ripped-off-for-2246-by-small-traditions-llc-owner-dave-thorn/1001411156497217261.html. In that complaint, this person himself documents how he had been harassing us for weeks before the time period in which he called us. We have phone records and email records of all his calls and emails to us.
In short, after successfully selling $38, 000 worth of material for this person in one of our monthly auctions several months ago--breaking several sales records for him along the way--HE contacted us and asked us to list his Michael Jordan rookie card in our current auction, which had already started. Here is a link to that ended item: http://smalltraditions.com/lotdetail.aspx?inventoryid=15301. As anyone can see, the auction ended on 8/31 at a final price of $2, 227. This final price includes the final bid of $1, 900 plus the buyers premium that our buyers pay on top of their bids (our share of the sale). After selling $38, 000 of material with us just months earlier, the complainer here lies right off that bat when he says that we robbed him of $2, 246. He knows the breakdown of our sells very well, yet he posts this anyways.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, as anyone can see from the history of his complaints, the timeline of his harassment is clear. The week following the sale of the card on 8/31 he calls my personal cell phone to ask for his payment, yet the auction had literally just ended and we had not even BEGUN to collect payments yet. I tell him in this first call that I will send him his consignment settlement check as soon as his item is paid for. For the record, our payment process is clearly posted on our website, which states that we aim to make consignment settlement payments within "as little as 2-4 weeks after our auctions." So, the next week, now just the second week after the auction, I receive about a half dozen calls from this complainer again on my personal cell phone, all with no messages. Tuesday of that week (now just 7 business days after the auction), he leaves a message aggressively demanding his payment (and for the full sale price, not just his share, but our share, too), and he makes multiple, curse-laden, offensive statements about us "ducking" him.
The following week, when I began writing consignment settlement checks for other consignors from the auction in question, I receive all these emails from the complainer stating that he has contacted the BBB, complaints.com, etc., and filed multiple complaints that we robbed him. He also covered our Facebook page with our 11, 800 followers with similar libelous lies, and he did the same at Yelp and multiple other online resources. The problem was, however, that the complainers story just didn't make sense. We didn't rob him. We still hadn't even been paid for his item yet at that point. So, in order to force us to pay him, the complainer fills his complaints with the most damaging lies he can possibly imagine. He accuses us of all sorts of crimes and immoral and unethical acts, he curses at us and sends dozens of insulting and similarly provocative emails all day long, some of which I will attach to this response. He continues to lie, and he will not even acknowledge the clear timeline of the events described here and documented by his very own complaints.
In response to his lies and his baseless accusations, I responded by saying that, once paid, we would be forced to use his proceeds to seek legal counsel on how to defend ourselves from these vicious attacks. We were paid two weeks ago for his card, and this argument has been in limbo ever since. We would of course like to end this situation immediately, and we've asked the complainer to remove the libelous statements from his reviews about us, and then we would gladly pay him. Instead of working with us, however, he views this as blackmail, and he tells me that he will not stop until he ruins us. Here I've taken another hour to respond to another complaint from this person, but let's all get a taste for his lies and deception. Here is his email to me on Friday of last week in which he acknowledges one of my other responses to his lies and false accusations on another site. This is, mind you, right after he had posted about the emotional distress caused by all this, he sends this provocative email:

Thanks for that response on complaints. Thanks for admitting everything, I've now rebutted. Please respond, I need a good laugh.

You deny calling me the very first week following the auction asking about payment? You deny then calling me multiple times the second week following the auction and not leaving any messages on my cell phone? You deny then leaving a message on business day 7 after the auction in which you accused me of "ducking" you? You deny making these complaints online the third week following the auction? You now deny this entire freaking timeline? DUUUUUDE?!?!?!
You say I victimize and taunt you??? Look at the email YOU just sent me!?!?! You know that you are making statements about shill bidding strictly to damage my business. You know it. The only remote conversation we ever had about that subject was in regards to how rampant it was on EBAY, AND YOU KNOW THAT! This was the subject of our very first conversation, AND YOU KNOW IT. Why would I ever tell someone I don't know and to whom I was speaking for the first time to commit crimes on my website!?!?!??! That's ludicrous!!! You know you are saying these things strictly because it was the subject of our first and only conversation, and you now want to damage me. As you've said in multiple past attacks, you hate me, and you wish I was dead, etc. YOU KNOW IT. What kind of animal are you?
If you would merely state in a comment to your reviews online that you admit that you did not fully understand our procedures and that you will not make any FURTHER attacks or complaints against us if we complete the transaction, I will gladly PayPal you right now. It's your call.
Sincerely,
Dave Thorn
