I was solicited by Smart Certify Direct May 4th 2001 to purchase the Smart Certify MCSE 2000 Computer based Training program. I was interested in becoming MCSE certified and they proposed that I could acquire that certification using their product. In a conference call with the salesperson and her supervisor I was told I had nothing to lose. The course was guaranteed and if I could not use it, I could return it at no cost to myself.

I agreed to try the course on a trial basis. Smart Certify arranged the agreement with Associates Capital Bank of Salt Lake City Utah without my authorization; I never signed or agreed to this financing in the amount of $1611.94. I could not use these courses as the quality of this product is very poor. There is no sound narration and it would be ludicrous to think that some one could assimilate this complex subject matter from these CDs. I gave this a try because I was guaranteed if I could not use it I could send it back within 90 days.

When I tried to return the product they told me the best they could do is to give me credit towards a different certification program, or I could schedule an exam and if I failed two of them within 90 days they would not hold me liable to the contract. Each exam costs over $100 to take and there are seven exams that must be passed in order to acquire the MCSE certification. I cannot assimilate this complex subject matter from these two CDs in the format and manner in which it is presented. The original financial agreement was made by Smart Certify on my behalf without my authorization with Associates Capital Bank which is now bankrupt.

The account was purchased by Citifinancial and I was hounded by them for awhile. Now I am being harassed by FBCS INC and the current outstanding balance is $21555.20 for two CDs. I have never paid one penny towards this account and do not intend to. I have documentation of all emails, faxes and statements and have filed complaints with the New York State and Florida BBB, as well as with the attorney generals consumer complaint division in both states to no avail.

They tried to arbitrate a settlement with Smart Certify on my behalf but cannot represent me in a court action. Something should be done to stop Smart Certify Direct from continuing to rip off people with promises of IT training from non-existent professionals.

With all due respect you have to understand that Smart Certify Direct has never cheated anyone out of their money....reason being, when the consumer said that they did not sign anything or any agreement....they must have....in order to QUALIFY, you have to sign a statment through an email in order for an TRANSACTION to be processed IF NOT SIGNED, all orders are to be declined...so in no way did they cheat you out of any money....in the case of you not getting certified
UNFORTUNATELY that is not Smart Certifys responsibility. When the consumer purchaces the material it is then up to the INDIVIDUAL, how they want to apply themselves to the course material and such....Now keep in mind that when sales represenatives are explaining to you, how to obtain the certifications in no way are they stating that they cost nothing or COST anything.....UNLESS YOU ASK....we then open up conversation when the question of certfication costs are produced....in your concern to the courses not being voice activated....unless they told you that it is, then you were not decieved.....and WITH ALL DUE RESPECT if you didn't pay the amount then you didn't pay the amount, HOWEVER IT NEEDS TO BE PAID AND ALSO there had to have been a signed document on the email in the box in order to make the purchase or to even agree to anything, AGAIN IF IT WASN'T SIGNED THEN THE TRANSACTION CANNOT GO THROUGH.....wheather or not you have paid by Credit card or Check by phone......and WITH ALL DUE RESPECT....we are not rip-offs,,people don't APPLY themselves they way they need to. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, they then blame the ones who TRY to HELP.....it kind of reminds me of Jesus....he helps but when things go wrong he gets blamed for it all.....maybe we should take a look and see how we APPLY ourselves before we throw blame.
