I went to Smart Style Salon to have my hair highlighted. I have a card with my colors on it there. The stylist, Karen, turned my medium brown hair black, with a couple of blonde highlights on top. I wanted my medium brown color with blonde highlights. I use the brown to help cover gray.
She asked if I had to wash to lighten before, I said no. I asked what happened, she said "I mixed the colors on the card." I told her I didn't like it at all. She said she would add more foils and did. The top of my head from mid ear turned dull white-blond, with the bottom black with a few blonde streaks! There were reddish streaks in the top.
I said why is the top like this? She said no other way to lighten. She said she could fix, put in foils and put me under the dryer for the third time. Within a minute my hairline area was burning. I told her and she looked and said" Is it bad, can you wait a couple of minutes?" I said it hurts and she said "Just a couple more minutes".
She took them out in about 10 minutes. She said she didn't want to rewash my whole head, she would just spray the foiled areas. This was an hour after the store was closed, leaving her, me and her boyfriend who isn't an employee sitting in there with the door half down! She sprayed and offered to blow dry the wet area. My head was burning!
My hair was still white-blond with red streaks on top, black on the bottom and the back was all colors with clumps of gray, blonde and black. The bleach was still caked to my hair in the hairline. I said "NO! I'm leaving this is not what I wanted." She said no charge because I didn't get the color I wanted, but I needed to pay for the haircut. Her boyfriend had sat there 2 hrs looking at me, not employed there and I was pretty uncomfortable after the store closed with the 3 of us in there, telling her I didn't like my hair. It had a greenish cast to it also.
I went home, washed my head and found the chemical burns. I had to go to work at 8:00 am the next day. I ended up going to Walmart and purchasing
a medium brown hair dye and put in in my hair on my burning scalp, so I could go to work. I couldn't call in sick without getting in trouble. I called the salon manager and she said to come in. I asked to leave early and showed her my scalp and hair. She apologised and gave me shampoo and conditioners. No offer to fix. I contacted Smart Style who said since I didn't pay and added color they wouldn't do anything. I explained I couldnt go to work or call in sick and they didn't care.
I sent an email to Regis Corp, the parent company and received no response. I ended up waiting 5 days, going to another salon for shampoo cap and dying my hair red, to get rid of green cast. Then a few days later, highlighting the red. I can't do anything else to my hair until the dryness is gone. I am no were near my regular color. It cost me for the repairs I've had $90.00. I will have to pay to eventually redye my hair to my normal color to get rid of the red, when my hair can safely be dyed.
ALL I WANTED SMART STYLE/REGIS TO DO IS PAY TO HAVE ANOTHER COMPETENT SALON TO RETURN ME TO MY PRE-SMART STYLE CONDITION!
I have had to purchase a few cholesterol treatments and will continue to incur costs until I am back to where I started.
