If you saw my last report on this company, ignore the original follow-up. They lied about sending the voucher for the "card", in reality what they sent was a voucher to go to another company online, pay $5, just so I could send in $100 in gas receipts each month for a $25 gas card... which would take 20 months (nearly 2 years) before I'd actually ever have in total $500. NO "Card" but more like 20 $25 cards which required multiple purchases.... $2005 spent to receive $500 worth of $25 card*s*. So much for not needing to purchase anything to get the $500 GAS CARD.

For info on what happened originally see below or search smartfin here.

--------------------------------------------------------

I was contacted via automated message by Smartfin. The message stated to get a $500 gas card all I would need to do is reserve a seat to their upcoming presentation and attend on May 17th in Tampa, FL.

I was then contacted on the 16th as a reminder and to confirm the reservation
. And again on the 17th by an actual person to confirm I would be coming.

I told the lady I spoke with that I really wasn't interested in driving an hr when I had no clue what the presentation was even for and that I was actually pushing buttons to get a human on the phone to put me on their do not call list. She then told me how I was already registered for a $500 gas card and that all I would need to do is show up and confirm my registration there and I would receive the 'voucher' in email within 3-5 days.

She then told me that it was only an educational presentation to teach consumers about debt and credit and the things we didn't know about them. So I went ahead and told her I would go ahead and attend.

My sister also got the 'reservation $500 gas card' call and also reserved doing pretty much the same thing I did, trying to get off their list. Well I called her and she agreed to go ahead and go with me. So we both went to the presentation, confirmed we were there on their computers and sat through a 2 1/2 hr presentation, which ended up being about joining their debt solution company... $10K-$50K cost. After specifically being told it had nothing to do with selling anything. We were again told we would have a voucher for $500 gas card within 3-5 days.

Well when neither of us had gotten ANY word from Smartfin by day 5 we called their main phone # and were told to call a secondary # which was an answering machine. We both left messages and still have not gotten a return call. We then proceeded to call the cell # of the rep we dealt with and again an answering machine. We also called the # the live rep called from when confirming the reservations and of course another answering machine.

We then proceeded to call the original automated # we were contacted by and that had a NEW message on reservations to their upcoming presentation this weekend... if you reserve a seat it says they'll call you back with which hotel and the adress and if you arrive 15mins early you can register to get a $100 gas relief certificate. So it's now $400 less than it was (not that anyone will actually get it) and they're actually advertising it as a certificate and not a card as they originally were.

It's been a week now and it's looking like my husband was right and we wasted 4 1/2 hrs of our afternoon for nothing. No $500 gas card or voucher and no return calls.
